of course, she has connections to the country..MILLIONS of Americans have connections to other countries

and yes , I read the reasons you posted

    but so what??

she was born and educated in the USA and represents a communist country

    her reasons are irrelevant....

    Everybody has their own opinion.
    Here is MINE:
    1) Shiffrin was THE FACE of these Olympics for the USA.

People had her Winning 2 Golds (at least).
And, the possibility of 5 Medals.
Her 2 Specialties were the Slalom and the Giant Slalom.
Also, since half of the components of the Alpine Combined involves a Slalom Run, that was considered the best opportunity for possibly a 3rd Medal (even a 3rd Gold).
^She Skied-OUT of the Above 3 Events. (Her "Specialties").
She was a complete non-factor in the other 2 Events (Downhill and Super-G).

    2) She did great in the Downhill portion of the Combined.
She had a great chance to vindicate herself, and maybe even get Gold.
THEN, She crashes out on the Slalom portion.

    3) In terms of " Living up to Expectaions" she made Simone Biles look like Michael Phelps.

Bottom Line: NO MEDALS! No Excuses! That CAN'T Happen! Period!

In her favor, maybe this is all an Elaborate 999 Quintilion-D Chess Jedi Mind Trick to set up a 2026 "Redemption Narrative"?

Any given Sunday. Trashing an Olympian for not winning a medal? If they were guaranteed, there would be zero reason to hold the two week event. Just mail the medals out,

I get you are mad at sports right now. So is my husband. Don’t take your anger at Mahomes out on skiers!

Disgrace for whom? NBC's feckless promotion? Folks have bad days, if she didn't meet your expectations, isn't that more a comment about you than her? How pejorative of you to assume her only function is to win and entertain you. Is that the way it is supposed to work, you know, on your plantation?

    Mikaela answers her critics:

"Well kids...feed 'em what you wanna feed em. Self pity, sadness...let the turkeys get you down, There will always be turkeys. Or get up, Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again,” Shiffrin wrote. “Get up because you can, because you like what you do when it’s not infested with the people who have so much apparent hate for you. Just get up. It's not always easy, but it's also not the end of the world to fail. Fail twice. Fail 5 times. At the Olympics.”
Shiffrin continued with her response, explaining why she continues to move forward and not allow these comments to stop her.
“Why do I keep coming back? Gosh knows it hurts more than it feels good lately. I come back because those first 9 turns today were spectacular, really heaven. That's where I'm meant to be. And I'm stubborn as s---. So let's go for some team event training tomorrow, and then the final alpine race of this Olmpics [sic] on Saturday."

Please make some effort to Get Rid of the Personal Stuff.
    It's Boring and Ridiculous...:bored:

Massive over-use of the Pronoun "you" (and also "your").
    What a horrible look...:smh:

    Why so personal?
    Really bothered that much? Wow...'smh:

Is it even possible to express an opinion without being so personally insulting?
Work on it. It will come in time.
PF is supposed to be a Civil Place.
    Why so personal?
    Having a bad day?

Obviously, there is a difference of opinion (involving Shiffrin).

If one has a dissenting opinion, then one should express that opinion in a respectful manner and follow the Rules of Civility.
    Keep trying.
Acting nice (and respectful) to others can be contagious.
    Best of luck.

You just trashed a talented athlete because she didn’t win a medal. Your non nice responses are based on your not being nice.

Well, that hit a nerve... You still didn't discuss why the skier not winning made you so angry at her. You worry about how folks treat you, and yet you lambast a woman you've never met for something that disappointed you. Is ya workin on that?
