PF has been infiltrated by China's paid trolls

Infiltrations of paid members are not a great trouble to deal with.

The problem is their purpose. If it's just infiltration to derail discussions and to create background noise to divert the attention of the audience ... in a political forum also real members with strong political orientation do something similar ... so ...

The problem comes if they organize themselves to obtain the closure or the failure of a disturbing site. They can create a total mess, making really difficult to moderators to keep the forum available for common users.

So far I haven't seen organized groups of "men on a mission", this makes me think that actually here the level of "infiltration" is low or simple "exploratory", not operative.

So, don't mind ...

Before radical leftist, Marxist and even some Maoist came under the Democrat tent during the 70's and hijacked the Progressive label to hide behind, Progressives prided themselves on their applications of emerging social sciences and scientific management techniques, believing that through science, societies ills could be cured. Handing out free stuff, leveling the playing field or providing special protections and privileges isn't using science or is it progressivism, it's just cultural Marxism buying votes.

 

While as a PROGRESSIVE MAN myself....I agree that through the use and careful use and consideration of applied SCIENCES.....Mankind can benefit a great deal.

The thing is a BALANCE MUST BE FOUND!!!

We have people in this country living in rural areas that have only ONE BOOK in their home and that book is the Bible.

The extent of their education and understanding of issues exists at the level some POLITICIAN RILES THEM UP TO!!!

Yes, we have many Sinophiles in here, as well as Russiaphiles and others who do nothing but repeat propaganda and troll any thread they can. In fact one of the latest will jump into any thread and start spreading their Pro-Serbian nonsense.

Myself, I simply ignore them. Most are not worth talking to, and they rarely last in here long. But occasionally we do get a few that do stick around.

 

The USA does a lot more than pay people to be internet shills and trolls. There is the CIA and NSA used for the toppling and establishment of governments favorable to the American gov't.

 

Registered INDEPENDENTS are the reason we got Barack Obama. Get off the fence, select a party and CHANGE IT. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the PROBLEM.

On topic, someone said earlier in this thread that any paid poster would be permabanned. I question the accuracy of that statement as I've never seen anything in forum rules that prohibit 'professional posters' from participating. My second thought is to echo Hil... what difference does it make? It's not like paying somebody makes their posts more persuasive. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can't get paid to say it, right?

Anybody who ends a post with THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA is a paid shill in my mind. I therefore discount everything they have to say. Works for me.

 

The discussion on Progressivism and 'rationalism' reminds me of an Appendix from F.A. Hayek's book The Fatal Conceit I've been meaning to get posted here and haven't got around to it. 'Rationalism' doesn't work very well, and rarely, and he makes a great case as to why that is. I was going to post about it in the Philosophy forum, but I guess it would be okay to annoy people in this forum as well.

FACT.....it costs the states and Federal Government more money a year to pay for unpaid ER Hospital Bills and Unpaid Ambulance Bills as no person can be denied access to an ER in the U.S.....that it costs for Universal Healthcare!!!

(This was before Obama-care) My son had just graduated as a full time student & not eligible for coverage under his parents policy. Within a month later, he went to the hospital for what I knew was his appendix (as I had the same symptoms when I was younger). They asked him to go to another hospital. He found a nearby private hospital who took him in and operated. They said in approx another 3 hrs it would have burst. I thought he couldn't be denied in the ER also. I think they would have eventually taken him in, if he hadn't taken matters into his own hands and found a different hospital. This was several yrs ago, and I was called out of a Christmas get-together. I told him they couldn't deny him & to stay put, that I was on my way. (I'm glad that was one time he didn't listen to me).

 

That's would be a huge lawsuit!!!

No ER in the U.S. can deny anyone entrance and care period!!

What they were doing was illegal.

Unfortunately in some states some people and some communities like to make their own rules....Unconstitutional or not.

Example......both Kansas and Ohio High Schools after being warned multiple times to cease having Morning Christian Prayers......and refusing to teach Evolution......forced the FED's to come in and straighten things out.

I thought it may have not been legal, but at the time, I had other concerns on my mind. My son got excellent care at the other hospital and recovered well. I've sat all night with him a couple of times (he was in for dehydration once). He's at an age now, that he can appreciate the love.

 

Often issues of Dehydration can be a symptom of other things.

I drink enormous amounts of water even at home.

Then again I am always moving.
