An interesting video. A senate enquiry between Rand Paul and Pfauci. The 1st minute is the part to focus on.

"If a woman had the flu for 14 days, should she get the flu shot?" This was the question brought up in a past interview.
Pfauci's response in that interview was, "If the woman really had the flu, she doesn't need the vaccine. Because getting infected is the best way to get immunity".

If natural immunity is king for the flu, then why isn't this the case with covid then?

    Go figure.

Because seasonal flu and the COVID pandemic aren't the same thing. Neither are the same as an Ebola outbreak either.

One key part of his statement there is the "If the woman really had the flu..." and the same issue applies with COVID, especially early on in the pandemic. Knowing for certain whether a person actually had COVID, the variant they had and the extent of protection that infection would provide wasn't always at all clear.

Also, with COVID, it became apparent that while prior infection does offer significant protection (at least prior to variants developing), prior infection plus vaccination offers even greater protection. This generally isn't the case with seasonal flu.

I thought there was no science involved in the latest fiasco. Just crap found in a child's chemistry set among other nasty ingredients.

Similar symptoms doesn't mean the causes are the same. By your argument, influenza and the common cold are the same thing too but we treat them very differently.

I don't need to be a doctor to understand the difference between flu and the common cold (though a lot of people believe they have flu when they actually just have a heavy cold).

Influenza can cause very severe illness, especially in the most vulnerable and with certain strains. With seasonal flu, we have routine vaccination campaigns, widely targeted at vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, young children and those with underlying conditions. Anyone diagnosed with influenza could well require at least monitoring by a doctor and possible prescription medication to manage and mitigate the most severe symptoms.

None of the various viruses that cause cold symptoms are especially dangerous and it very rarely causes any serious issues. The is no vaccination for cold viruses and no great rush to develop any, but even if they were available, they likely wouldn't be recommended for most people anyway. A cold rarely needs medical attention, and most people can pretty much carry on regardless, using just over-the-counter pain killers and pastels.

What I'm getting at, is if the flu is based on the chart of symptoms, flu being the worst out of 3 to get, and the interview given by Fauci stating that natural immunity is better than a flu shot, why wasn't the less symptomatic covid given the same sentiment as the flu, when the flu has far more symptoms. "You must get vaxxed, or you'll die" rhetoric was pushed. For what? A viral fart.

Symptoms don't equate to severity. Some of the worst health conditions have few apparent symptoms while many minor conditions are very obvious. Symptoms of viral infections are largely side-effects of your body fighting off the virus, so to some extent, stronger symptoms could even be a positive (though in themselves can cause problems).

The simple fact is that the common cold, influenza and COVID are all different conditions in all sorts of different ways, clinically, pathologically, socially and practically, and so it is perfectly reasonable that the health policy responses to them are very different. That doesn't automatically mean the policy responses are always right, especially in the context of a new viral illness like COVID, but the idea that the responses for COVID must be bad if they're different to the responses for influenza is simply wrong.
