3 players from UCLA (including a Ball brother) were arrested for shoplifting in China. Discuss NCAA Basketball here.
I like Mich. St. But, yeah. It is gonna be a fun season. They made bail. I doubt China is going to make a major incident out of this.
#1 Seed Virginia LOSING to #16 UMBC by 16 point under 12 minutes. If it holds, First #16 over #1 win in Men's NCAA Tourney.
Michigan State, picked many so-called "experts" to win it all, just LOST! And, they even had the virtual Home Court advantage playing in Detroit. Tom Izzo = LOSER.
One of the craziest tourney's I've ever seen. UVA beat themselves just as equally as UMBC crushing them. UMBC did something I've never seen before. Almost every foul they drew in the 2nd half was an And 1. They were averaging 3 pt fouls lol. Was nuts! They also drilled their shots in the 2nd half. UVA- with 14 minutes left they started playing with too much urgency as if there were only 2 minutes left. They were chucking up 3s and trying to draw fouls down low. Didn't work out.
UVA seemed to not realize that they were in a Life-and-Death Dogfight (until it was too late). I would like to see Michigan win it now. But, I noticed that even though UM is a higher seed, they opened as a -3 dog vs A&M.
I disagree about UVA. They were playing like they lost the game since the beginning of the 2nd half. They were chasing awful 3 point shots with 20 seconds left on the shot clock just 4 minutes into the second half. Very uncharacteristic of them IMO.
Yeah. I see your point. They definitely panicked by jacking up those 3's (like you mentioned). But, it isn't surprising that they were blindsided by UMBC. UVA was the #1 Overall Seed (and Unanimous AP #1), there is no way that they could've seen that coming from a #16. This is the most wide open tourney that I can remember in years. Now, we just gotta see Kansas, Kentucky, Villanova and Duke get knocked out.
UMBC would have beat any team in the tournament that night the way they were playing. It was lights out basketball. So cool to watch. Yea I'd love to see Nova and Duke get knocked out
I know. One of those All-Time Upsets (like Douglas over Tyson or Miracle on Ice). Wrong place wrong time for UVA. Hopefully the Big Schools continue to get knocked off.
I thought Nevada would go further since the Martin's transferred. Surprising upset and a fun game to watch. Did you get a chance to see it AJ?
Yes, of course. No comeback for Nevada, like against Cincy. Townes hit the dagger 3 for Loyola. I watched parts of all 4 of the games, just kept switching between the channels to the most exciting game. I watched the whole 2nd Half of Loyola/Nevada because of Loyola's Cinderella story. Now that Kentucky is out, Loyola has a better chance to get to the Final Four. I like the 98-year-old Sister Jean (who is Loyola's biggest fan). The Martins have another year of eligibility, but they seem to be getting a lot of NBA interest. I was just reading an interesting article on the difficulties (for the NBA) of scouting identical twins. At this point, I am pulling for Loyola to make the Final Four and Michigan to win it.
Hopefully it is Duke's turn to get upset tonight. Gonna be interesting to see how they do against the 'Cuse zone.
