Your cat seems to have a lot of personality! I bet he believes he is the boss, and he tells YOU when he wants to be fed and petted, and when he wants to be left alone!

I used to have an orange cat a long time ago. Now I have a Black pomeranian that we rescued in September 2014. We had lost our previous pomeranian, Scooby, in June, when he had to be euthanized because of kidney failure. He was 12 years old. Here are two pictures, the first of Scooby, and the second of Prince.

There's a saying that I really do believe. "If you call your dog, it'll come to you. If you call your cat, it'll take a message"....... cats are independent animals - that's one thing i love about them. And you don't adopt them, they adopt you. They will decide if they will live w/you or not......

I love cats and dogs - mostly all animals......

Here's mine in ascending order from the first day I got him. Ended up adopting the other one off of one of my roommate's coworkers
after she figured out she was going to be on the road a lot and couldn't take care of her cat.

I much prefer animals to people.

When I was young and lived in apartments, I had cats. When I bought my first house (with fenced yard), I bought a St. Bernard before the ink was dry on the mortgage. Since then I've had many, many dogs. Champion show dogs, a couple of greys from a race track, dogs I've simply picked up when they were skinny, lost, and wandering, and my current dog, who had been hit by a car and crawled to where I banked.

I just happened to stop by the bank that day and there she was, unable to walk or even stand. Some employees helped load her into my car so I could take her just up the road to my vet to have her put to sleep. My idea was to stay with her so she wouldn't die scared, hurting, and alone.

As I pulled away from the bank, she made an attempt to reach me. I put my hand on her head and said, "you stay right there by pretty little Bella Mia."

Moral: Don't name a stray, injured dog unless you intend to save her life and keep her.

That was about 11 years ago.

I don't know about that. Sure cats can be pretty independent but they can be needy too. I can't sit down without mine hopping in my lap or next to me. She's constantly right there. Not complaining at all but sometimes you just want to stretch your legs out or change positions and you can't do that without disturbing them.

That's a touching story. You never know when you're going to meet a new friend or bring home another family member.

Yeah. I often tell her that getting hit by a car was the luckiest day of her life. Truth is it was the luckiest day of MY life. I love her so much, and every single day, she makes me laugh.

With me, I don't even have to name them. Ever since I was a kid, when I'd go for a walk random dogs would just follow me all the way home.

I turn around and yell at them, because they're somebody's dog and I don't want them to get lost by following me home. But then as soon as I start walking again they start following me again. Maybe I should stop wearing Milkbone brand underwear.

I was always a dog person until my mother-in-law died and we took in her cat. Now we have three cats. My wife uses one as a sort of therapy cat. It will crawl up and sit on any kid's shoulder. Not so much with adults. Three cats, three totally different personalities. And I didn't even know cats HAD personalities. One is very needy, another is aloof but loves to wrestle, and the third is just a people lover.

    This thread needs more pictures.

Here are my 2 greyhounds and a mutt I found covered in fleas and ticks, walking dejectedly down the road. All three are long gone but still missed terribly.

I'm still a dog person, and never really liked cats, till I got one. She's like a dog, begs at the table, screeches when she wants out, actually comes to me when I call her (sorry, no pics). And no, she's not the one in my avatar.
    Enjoy!

Oscar had a funky paw and foot.

Paw healed on its own, foot needed steroid shot.

    now foot looks pretty good.

Love your story! Reading it reminded me of a friend's dog and how he ended up w/her. JD was driving down the road, saw a small dog hit by a car and went flying. The dog was pretty broken up, but JD told the vet to try and save her. He did and it cleaned out JD's savings. Hd didn't care. The dog was a Dollface Shi'tzu and he named her Muffin.

FF in time... JD was attacked by street thugs one night and left brain damaged w/seizures. Within time he trained Muffin to climb on his chest to activate the 'machinery' in his chest going into his head w/the magnet on her collar to draw him out of his seizure. Quite remarkable to watch......

About 6 yrs ago when I saw a new neighbor outside, I took one look and I was IN LUV.....w/his adorable dog and she was a real 'dollface'. We became good friends and found his story fascinating. Muffin died about 4 yrs ago - the vet said she was around 17 yrs old. JD got another Shi'tzu, named Milly and she's also his medical dog.

Brain-damaged or not, that man is so good w/training dogs. And he's also one of the kindest, most gentle men I've known.... never lived w/any bitterness or anger b/c of what was done to him, taking away so much of his quality of life. I find that remarkable.......

Had never tho't of small dogs like Shi'tzus being aid/medical dogs, but they sure can be........

I met a lady once that used a Yorkie for alerting her to a seizure onset. The Yorkie knew before the lady that the owner was going to have a seizure. Now that was amazing.

Dogs and cats are amazing if you take the time to notice and take care of them, they will reward you with devotion that is unmatched.
