For 100 years it was called Planet X. For the past few years some have gotten into a childish debate over calling it Planet X or Planet 9, serious astronomers don't care.

The question I have is, Why Do You Celebrate It instead of CHANGING IT?

Are you for some reason proud of your ignorance?
    Are you fearful of learning?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

I say we vote Pluto back into the club. Then we'd have 9 planets again, and all that funding can go to more deserving things, like eCigs for EBT recipients...

I know when I'm being fooled and manipulated. And it isn't obsession, rather that I regard it as a personal affront that I'm expected to believe all the hyperbolic non-provable drivel that self-serving 'scientists' broadcast in the interest of retaining their lucrative jobs for life. Real scientists I have the greatest respect for, and where would we be without them? Fake scientists are charlatans, and I can read between the lines of their rhetorical equivocation and recognise the body language of the charlatan when I see them being interviewed. Oh, and to answer your final question - I am curious about things that affect us all in the world about us; in fact it's being so curious from childhood which makes me the interesting individual that I am today.

I also respect real people of science. So we agree there. But I am curious. You do know that "proofs" are found in math, not science, right? Science looks for evidence to support a hypothesis. And they test it. So, what is it that pisses you off then, what specific issue can you give that pisses you off when it comes to science? Or scientists?

Does the multiverse idea piss you off? For to date it cannot be tested? Something along those lines? Or what? I need to understand you more clearly. Thanks.

Nah...just basing that off the history of Neptune. Neptune was mathematically inferred (like Planet Nine), but it wasn't named until it was visually observed. Prior to visual confirmation it was just referred to as "the planet after Uranus" or various other but similar monikers.

Oh, of course Cerebus might not accept that pic, since it was not taken from pluto, but a simulation picture. It's relative size was determined, in that pic, by science and math. Which has allowed us to put robots on mars, and do fly bys of gas giants. Ain't science wonderful?

Is that the same way you know Mars is at the other side of the universe? Gut reactions, feelings along with eye witnesses are notoriously unreliable.

You ignore facts you don’t understand, you’re not expected believe anything, if you think it’s wrong show people why try, producing facts.

As saying goes, “science doesn’t care what you believe”

    Exactly.

Pluto is not a planet. Pluto does not orbit in the Plane of the Ecliptic like the rest of the planets. It's orbit is 17° off the plane.

Its orbit is also different than that of the other planets, whose orbits are only slightly elliptical. Pluto's orbit is very elliptical, and it passes between Uranus and Neptune.

An all the above was known for generations and it was still consider a full member of the solar system family of planets.

Once more I can see the logic in not considering other such Pluto type bodies as full members of the solar system family of planets after other such bodies was found but I still think that the best way of dealing with the matter was to grandfather Pluto in as a full planet.

What was left out of the description, here -- and probably the most important distinction -- is that Plus has not "cleared" its orbit.

Recent world events have grabbed my attention more than this, so before I forget, I'll try and make it easy for you to understand. You've probably read previous posts in which I've said that I respect and admire scientists who have made, and are making, tangible (note that word?) improvements and enhancements for us and our children and mankind in general, but I have utmost contempt for the fake scientists, who spend their time trying to fool us with preposterous 'facts' which they, in their increasing complacence, know full well that nobody can disprove, and I'm seriously affronted by it: all I'm doing is letting the latter know there are some 'out here' who can see what they're up to? Just to add that I'm not really interested in the uni/multiverse, whatever you want to call it; I obviously know it's there, from childhood I have and still do wonder at it, but I see no need to obsess about it, so I don't. The only thing which might cause me to become more interested is if someone could come up with an intelligent explanation as to what is beyond the universe.

At what point does it become fake? Anything orbit, as soon as we start talking about the moon, past the moon, Mars, the end of your garden?

As soon as the concept or theory becomes too hard for you to understand you scream fake.

Had you been alive in 1906, there isn't a doubt in my mind you'd have considered Einstein a fake scientist.
