You are putting in a lot of effort to avoid addressing the challenge I posted. I strongly oppose government controlled "health care" as results show that in spite of record levels of pharm product consumption, Americans are sicker than ever.

"If someone was caught" is fun to discuss and is far from complicated, but how do you propose we catch them? Remember, you have an unlimited budget. Is it too complicated?

Okay, but that is the way that it is, right?

A number of things could happen. Men could alert authorities that their partner is going to have an illegal abortion and give the details of the criminal abortionist. Women could alert authorities that they have been forced by their male partner to get an abortion and give the details of the criminal abortionist, and the man should be arrested for his part. Clinics which previously provided elective abortion would be subject to random inspections by authorities. It's not rocket science!

What does that have to do with receiving medical treatment? If someone in the US gets cancer but doesn't have health insurance, as far as I'm aware they cannot get treated by simply asking for help! Am I wrong?

Do you make an exemption for rape?

I have conflicted feelings on that. To be consistent with my moral principles, no. But, a young woman already traumatized by violence against her body shouldn’t have to bear the additional agony of carrying the seed of her attacker.

    There is quite a conflict.

    Why do you oppose abortion?

    Because it's "murder"?

How is an abortion due to rape different from and abortion due to consensual sex????

    You're wrong. Quality treatment? Problematic.

I think that depends on where you live, A young black boy I was mentoring in Connecticut developed Aplastic Anemia. His family had absolutely no resources at all but the young man was treated for over a year by some of the best doctors in the country at Yale-New Haven hospital. Sadly, there is no cure and he passed away.

Yeah, care is all over the place. People with cancer can't get chemo and a child gets great treatment. There are free clinics. He's an Aussie and may not quite appreciate how stuff happens here. How you might get stuck with a nasty bill if you have a scan out-of-network. No one here is surprised.

@chris155au can have an "Oh, really?" moment. :)

Sounds like there's no need for universal healthcare then.

It is already illegal to force someone to get an abortion. As for men alerting authorities that she is going to get an abortion, now what? Do you take away her passport until she gives birth? When she returns from her trip no longer pregnant, what do you do?

Did I specify that she would be flying to get the abortion?

Alright, well there's certainly LESS of a reason for it than I thought. I thought that if someone gets terminal cancer without health insurance, they're totally screwed.

You might be screwed if you have cancer and would benefit from effective treatment, but you changed it from having cancer to having terminal cancer.

You said its not rocket science, but as we think it through, your web will become more tangled. He reported that she plans on getting an abortion. Walk me through what happens next:

Well having cancer includes having terminal cancer. It's not as if I specified non-terminal cancer.

Well, nothing can be done unless he can report who the abortionist is. If he does, then that abortionist gets a visit from the police.

This is getting complicated. Where is the benefit to society? With unlimited resources, why not just fit her with a house arrest bracelet and confine her to home until she gives birth?

Maintains the moral order, just like why murder is illegal.

    That little thing called FREEDOM!

You have not come close to making that case. All you can come up with is the "murder" diversion. Rather than arguing against points no one made, address the issue being discussed by describing how you would use government to achieve your goal.

If you are unable to do that, you can always admit that abortion laws cannot be enforced and have no benefit to society.

Freedom is never the result of government control. If you want to make society better, there is nothing stopping you.
