Australia is unique in the western world, in that it remains relatively well managed and with a representative government, even in this 21st century globalized and outsourced post-industrial world.

Australia also has a highly modern and open minded culture, and its people all agree to speak English, the global language of communication, at least as an administrative language in government business, schools, and even at home as a 2nd language. Australia, as a nation, has accepted itself as a union of smaller nations, represented by the constituent states of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Here comes the crazy train. In other parts of the western world (Europe), there are 2 "nations" that have never been interested in building a nation state, but 19th century adverse events pushed them into that crazy train and they ended up in the nation state game/mindset without their concent. These are the Lapps of Norway/Sweden and the Hungarians of the Carpathian Basin. (Don't be mislead by seeing a country called "Hungary" in Europe's map, it is not created by Hungarians.) Effectively, their "legal"/"cultural" status at their present locations can be called "displaced", although they didn't move in the 19th-20th centuries.

My question is, what would the people of Australia say, if these 2 groups of people wanted to move out of Europe, and create their own 2 states within the Commonwealth of Australia, like between Western Australia and South Australia or somewhere at Australia's east coast? These 2 groups already speak English as a preferred 2nd language at more than ~ 50 % of their households, and they have western traditions, educational backgrounds, and economic activities, so they would integrate easier and faster than any other group into Australian society. There is about a total headcount of 20 million of them (which is a high % of Australia's current size). Australians, what are your opinions?

Australia has 22.4 million people so that would be almost a doubling of our population. 75%+ of Australia is semi-arid or desert. We just went through a huge drought where water storage got to alarmingly low levels. So in a word... No.

The 'Lapps' have lived for thousands of years in the Arctic, herding Reindeer. Moving them into a desert or a tropical setting is so bloody stupid that it really isn't worth any serious thought.

Hungarians... again creating a 'sovereign' nation in an area of the world were they have exactly zero historical or cultural links is completely stupid.

If any group was going to have a sovereign nation in Australia, it would be our own Aborigines. Not the indigineous people of Lappland and Hungary. :omg:
