So 'serve and protect' to you means shooting belligerent nonthreatening drunks as well enabling total corruption in the justice/le system?

Well the definition of belligerent is "aggressive and threatening".

And yes, if someone is drunk, belligerent, and capable of inflicting great bodily harm on someone at any given moment in time, deadly force is both logical and legal.

How many people do non-belligerent drunks kill every year when they get behind the wheel?

How many rapes are due to belligerent drunks every year?

They kill a lot more people than the police, that's for sure.

The majority of crimes are committed by someone under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Assuming the officer exited his vehicle through the driver's door then the suspect vehicle was used as a weapon to try to injure/kill the officer. At that moment whatever force is required to completely subdue the suspects is justified.

I would say the officer showed very poor judgement in pursuing a stolen car at those speeds. If the pursuit is not outside department guidelines a review of those guidelines is in order.

I would agree that was a poor choice of words on my part so I redact it.

However now you are off on every conceivable tangent imaginable.

The point is and stands that the drunk guy was not a threat by any stretch of the imagination to rambo with a gun who drilled him with 7 rounds then after the fact told him to get on the ground as he was dying because humans dont make good sives.

So then according your justice system lets just shoot all drunks on sight because they might injure someone and give rambo a medal for violating every reserved constitutional right known to man.

and that is the rub isnt it?
that is the highly unlikely but plausible factor
the car was moving somewhat toward rambo, (then they accidentally forget to mention it would have missed rambo by a country mile) but since it was moving sort of in rambos direction its a no brainer that the driver was clearly not trying to escape but trying to murder rambo.
    You buy that nonsense?
Whatever force? seriously? a nuke is whatever force will that work?

No you had it exactly right, and you're the one who went off on this tangent, not me.

A drunk that's grabbing at a police officers weapons is clearly a belligerent drunk, and is clearly a threat. If someone was grabbing at my weapons belt I'd shoot him too.

And yeah, if a drunk guy attacks you and you feel he's intent on causing you bodily harm, shoot him.

You can wait to see if he'll kill you for him to get his day in court if you want. Me, I'll go ahead and defend myself, thanks.

Well go sign up to enforce the law and show everyone how it's done.

Sitting on the couch complaining about people who risk their lives is the easiest job in the world.

you need to watch the video again, rambo had the weapon in his hand, the kid looked like he was falling and grabbing for anything to break his fall, he was drunk, and rambo attacked the kid the kid did not attack rambo, you seem to have your facts reversed.

So you admit this kind of brown-shirt totalitarianism is in fact despotic tyranny?

You are seeing what you want to see. I am seeing what is there.

The officer existing his vehicle would have walked directly behind the offender's car so he could see both the driver and passenger sides more clearly.

When the offender has a weapon (in this case a car) and is using it the offender's skill in using the weapon is not part of the consideration since even a blind squirrel will sometimes find the acorn.

Again, the officer showed poor judgement in pursuing a stolen car at those speeds but his actions on the video appear justified.

Tell that to John Crawfords family. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...rt-shopper-won-face-charges-article-1.3318774

The full surveillance video is here

Crawford was in Walmart holding a BB gun, he was shopping and talking on his phone. Ron Ritchie (another shopper) called 911 saying Crawford was pointing a rifle at people - you can see in the video Ritchie blatantly lied. Cops showed up, snuck up on Crawford, and killed him.

    Note some things:
1 - that part of Ohio is an open carry area.
2 - Crawford was not pointing the BB gun at anyone, not other shoppers, and not the police.
3 - the cops did not give Crawford a chance to "comply" before killing him.
4 - later, Ritchie changed his story and contradicted what he said in the 911 call.

The investigation by special prosecutor Mark Piepmeier determined that “Mr Crawford did not commit a crime that day ............He didn’t do anything wrong.” Of the cops he said “They took the lives of someone that didn’t need to die.”

Piepmeier also concluded the cop who killed Crawford did nothing wrong.

So, a cop shoots and kills a totally innocent man, a man who did not threaten anyone, did not threaten the cop. And the cop did nothing wrong?

Lets go one more step - http://www.mydaytondailynews.com/ne...es-department-average/MSRdRpzXZ7Oqz8QP7uSfeL/
The Beavercreek police officer who fired the weapon that killed John Crawford III inside a Walmart store on Aug. 5, 2014, had 36 “response to resistance” incidents between 2006 and 2013 — 10 times more than the average for his fellow officers during that time period.

Sean Williams also was involved in the only two fatal shootings in Beavercreek police history, including the Walmart shooting.

So here we have a cop who clearly uses excessive force, kills a completely innocent man who was minding his own business and gave no cause at all for the cop to shoot him, and the cop is not punished at all.

What if you walked up to a man in Walmart and shot him. That's what the cop did. Would you be exonerated or would you be in prison?

Obviously cops are above the law and can - and do - get away with murder.

Omg such a sad story. Let me play you a sad song on the worlds smallest violin. Did I ever say that **** doesn’t happen? No I didn’t. But it’s not an every day event like the media tells you to. I’m not going to look into this story, I’m sure it’s as bad as you say it is. But oh well.

The officer in question was cleared of wrongdoing, because the individual who called in the report deliberately and intentionally lied about the severity of the situation, purposely making it out to be an active shooter situation. Law enforcement was led to believe that lives were being threatened, if not lost, and was forced to respond in the manner that they did, because there was no perceived time to stop and evaluate the situation. That is why the individual who called in the report is being charged for the death of the individual that was killed.

I'm a bit confused. I think the officer was from Columbus, Ga. The incident occurred in Al. Looks like a pursuit crossed the state line. Anyone know if this is what happened?

we are talking about 3 different cases where rambo cops wasted people and got away with murder. The case you are talking about is in the OP. Yes it happened, the video is posted.

We didn't need to go to war with Hitler, we just needed to prove he was a felon in court. Glad you cleared that up.

Stolen car, 107 miles per hour, trying to get away, unable to handle the vehicle? Instead of all three teens ending up dead he probably saved two of them.

You meant a trigger happy psychopathic rambo executioner with a state sanctioned license to murder with impunity

A First News investigation revealed Brown was already fresh off a suspension for violating pursuit policy last year when the incident involving three Columbus teens occurred.

Operating on a report of a stolen vehicle, Brown chased Christian Redwine with two other teens in the car, into Russell County and has testified he felt threatened when he shot all three, killing Redwine who was the person driving.

Officer Brown had been serving on desk duty in Patrol when he abruptly resigned Wednesday.

Officials say it could still be some time before all the details of that deadly night are made public. Attorneys representing the two teens who survived the incident and that of the family of Christian Redwine are promising a civil lawsuit
