The theft of citizens assets labeled asset forfeiture, is but one of the signs of a tyrannical regime in its last days.
Governments go through cycles like every thing else. They start out as being an entity to provide essential service, but as time goes on graft and corruption along with the illegal usurpation of power turn them into tyrannies and as that happens they loose the support of the people.

Government today needs to steal money in several ways to fund operations that the public does not support or that are illegal and they cannot go through normal channels to acquire. Illegal spying is one of those operations. Spying on the people within the United States at present, is at a level unrivaled in history including the Nazi's and Stalin's Russia. The American people would not support the illegal spying on themselves by so called authorities, so they need other ways to fund such operations. The illegal theft of assets is one of those ways, and it will continue and become more prevalent as time goes by until the people stand up and revolt.

I agree with your sentiment, but really - when have you ever used your firearms to stop theft of your property by the state? Never.

Our best chance is to create voluntary communities. Be as independent as you can on your own (grow/raise/kill most of your own food, repair your own car, that sort of thing), and purchase as much of the rest as you can from individuals in your community (buy whatever vegetables you can't grow yourself from that lady down the road, get Johnny to wash your car, etc). Exploit tax deductions, avoid sales tax, avoid the intellectual property tax (pirate all your media rather than paying for it), drive unlicensed - I've never been asked for my license by a state thug - why pay it?

As for asset forfeiture - nothing you can do about that. Work through the system or avoid the police.

Only goes to prove that "A person is innocent until proven guilty" is a crock.
