    According to whom? Not fivethirtyeight....

    upload_2020-1-20_8-31-54.png

And as far as approval numbers, Trump is almost as popular as Obama was after the same number of days in office (and that's with the media putting Obama on a pedestal every day....and attempting to tear down Trump at every opportunity).

The black line is Obama; the green line is Trump...

    You're not listening.
He was duly elected, his election was 100% legit. The majority have their opportunity to remove him next November.
It is 100% the Democrats responsiblity to prove he is guilty of a crime or misdemeanor, the constitutional reasons for removing a president.
What the majority thinks is irrelevant today.
If the majority wants to make such solicitations illegal they should get Congress to pass a law.
The only thing illegal now is for a president to sell influence over America in order to get such things for personal benefit..

Trump did not seek or attain anything of value from Ukraine. At least the Democrats case does not prove he did.

LOL...Are we STILL pretending like there is a chance that Trump is going to be removed?....Really? MSNBC and the like has truly done a number on y'all. What has resulted can almost be described as a cult.

Well actually for supposedly trying to. There is no evidence that they succeeded.

I don't think that you are following the case closely. They have evidence that the Senate has vowed to stop. I don't know if there is anything they can do to stop them or not, but they have signaled that they will try. Bolton's testimony being one of those. Democrats have evidence that can be corroborated by Bolton's testimony.

The purpose of both parties, I would hope, is to get to the facts. At least that's what Senators who honor their oath of office to defend the Constitution one would expect would do. But not those whose first oath is to defend their own partisan interests.

Thank you. We are in agreement, then.

Well, let's see... In 2017 "the House" was under Republican control. So, if that's true, then you should probably ask Republicans. I would assume that, if they did that, it was most likely because Trump started committing abuse of power, that was worth investigating as to whether it was impeachable or not, in early 2017...

But being pissed off because the President was giving security clearance to people he knew should not have it, or giving up secrets to Russian government officials, or profiting from his inauguration, or disparaging our security agencies and defending the country that attacked our electoral system, or... many many other things that Trump had already done in early 2017.... Being pissed off for that and wanting to investigate to see if there were High Crimes and Misdemeanors and maybe even bribery or treason was, not only to be expected, but their duty.

You believe Trump has not committed any impeachable crimes. Dully noted. You do know that most Americans, including many Trump supporters, don't agree with you, I hope.

This is the LONG TERM Demographic Trend that shows your IMPOTUS's primary support base DECLINING by 2.3% between 2016 and 2020.

That is a loss of 3.5 million voters!

Obama had a NET POSITIVE rating while your IMPOTUS has ALWAYS had a NET NEGATIVE rating!

3.5 million voters is well within a normal polling margin of error. As noted before, the numbers are likely to change significantly after the Democrats select their 2020 nominee.

Obama started high, then his popularity ran downhill despite the media propping him up daily and ignoring his errors. Trump and Hillary were the two most unpopular candidates in modern history, so it's not surprising that Trump has been net-negative for his entire first-term. What is remarkable is the stability of his numbers despite having to fend off daily attacks.

One thing we need to remember, though (and I myself forgot), is that the new Vice President must be approved by a majority in both chambers. So why wouldn't the House use The McConnell Rule and let the voters decide who the vice-President is?

That has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with POLLING ERRORS!

That is a change in DEMOGRAPHICS! The MAJORITY of both GOP and IMPOTUS supporters are white people without a college degree. That Demographic is DECLINING nationwide and being REPLACED by others.

It is LOSS of 3.5 million voters who are his primary supporters who will NOT be able to vote in 2020. He LOST the PV in 2016 by 3 million votes. INCREASE that LOSS by another million or two and there is no way for him to win in 2020!

So you don't understand what the DIFFERENCE is between a NET POSITIVE and NET NEGATIVE rating?

    Got it!

    Oh right!

I too had forgotten that point but that just means that Pence cannot APPOINT a VP but he can CHOOSE a running mate to be his VP.

That running mate decision might be all he needs.

You're making an incorrect assumption that everyone in the white non-college demographic is a Trump supporter. Those "projected" future changes in demographics among education-level and race makeup say very little about the 2020 election outcome.

You're also ignoring that the President isn't elected by popular vote, but by the electoral vote. Technically a candidate could lose by far more millions of votes in the popular vote and still have a landslide in the electoral college.

(And, why are you "yelling" in ALL CAPS?)

Y'all have really wandered off into an imaginary, hypothetical "what if" land. None of what you're dreaming about is going to happen in reality. Can I borrow a unicorn from one of you?

The Obama/Trump thing-a-mah-bob is what gets me, because it indicates the major flaw in political propaganda. The vast bulk of the media spun and covered for Obama and pretty much openly worshiped him for eight years while they paint Trump as EVIL and yet still their real polling numbers remain pretty much dead even for the same points in time of their presidencies.

How is this possible? It is so because for propaganda to work it cannot run directly counter to common sense and common sense told people that Obama was a relatively bad president despite the outright worship of the MSM and that Trump is a fairly decent president despite every attempt to paint him as evil.

When the overarching political narrative runs counter to common sense then even the most prevalent of propaganda efforts . . . fail.

So you FAILED to actually READ the data in the CHART provided!

(I use caps for EMPHASIS on a SINGLE word which is NOT yelling.)

Had you bothered to actually READ the chart you would have seen that it PROVIDED the BREAKDOWN between Dem and GOP voters in 2016 across ALL Demographics.

It is ONLY in the Non-College White category that he had a MAJORITY by a RATIO of 2:1. When you do the math across the Census total of 153 million REGISTERED voters then the NCW segment shrinking from 44% to 41.7% that comes to 3.5 million. Split that by 2:1 and your IMPOTUS loses almost 2.4 million votes!

In NONE of the other categories does he have a majority and ALL of those categories are GROWING between 2016 and 2020!

Furthermore your IMPOTUS SCRAPED out an EC FLUKE with less than a 30k vote margin in just 3 states. He cannot afford to lose a SINGLE vote let alone an ADDITIONAL 2.4 MILLION of them which is what the DEMOGRAPHIC trend is showing is INEVITABLE!

So it is YOU that is IGNORING the FACTUAL REALITY of what happened in 2016 and what will happen in 2020 UNLESS the GOP can find a way to SUPPRESS at least 2.5 MILLION Minority votes in the next 9 months.

I don't think you are listening closely. The Senate cannot stop the House's evidence. If the House has Bolten evidence so be it. The Senate cannot do anything to stop it. Well, with maybe one exception: maybe the Senate can summarily dismiss the trial after receiving the Articles; though I'm not certain if they have to hear the opening before any dismissal.

    Have you ever considered stand-up?

See, now that is hilarious. It was Democrat/leftists that started impeachment petitions the day after the election. It was the WaPo that announced that impeachment had begun the day of inauguration. It was at inauguration that Dems/leftists chanted impeachment and the over two dozen Dems boycotted. It was Maxine Waters (D) who floated the idea of impeachment from the House floor in Jan 17, 3 days before inauguration, and introduced the first impeachment resolution April 17, 2017. There were 3 or 4 more impeachment resolutions submitted in 2017 by -- guess who -- DEMOCRATs.... Yea! Then there were a number of impeachment resolutions submitted in 2018 by -- guess who -- DEMOCRATs..... Yea! Impeach was front and center with the Democrats in the House since before day 1. It was when the Dems took over the House in 2019 that the subpoena flood gates were open to try to cripple the president.

Your vivid imagination is impressive. Democrat impeachment efforts began the day after election. They were pissed off because Trump won....... period. BTW none of your examples come within a million miles of irregularities let alone high crimes and misdemeanors so the Dems in the House had no duty to do anything whatsoever.

3.5M voters is grossly short of the poll errors right up to election day 2016.

Your grasp of demographics is unlike any I've seen!

Imagine, the elderly are dying off. So I guess that means, once they're gone, there will be no more elderly. Everyone will be young. Although that would be great news for the stability of Social Security, I'm afraid in the real world you are going to find another crop of elderly coming up behind those who've died.

Indeed; and according to all we've been told, the older people get the more likely they are to drift towards conservatism. Ooops!
