I haven't blocked anyone but they are a few here that can't help themselves with the immediate reflexive ad homs and some are simply here to troll and flame. No different than any online forum. I'd prefer not to block people.
I have blocked people, but not here. No one here has come close to to the level of trollishness that would make me want to. If this place had people I wanted to block, sooner or later I wouldn't bother to come here.
Not reading someone's posts is not the same as censoring them. The ignored can still post to their heart's content and anyone who cares to read those posts still can. I have ignored people who were intransigent about their offensive behavior. I won't concede that someone's right because they are too rude to argue with. Lack of manners does not equal smart or right.
I get much enjoyment from people who tell me they're blocking me. There is no greater admission of defeat.
I agree. Not much better satisfaction then some out of their mind leftist telling me that I’m gonna be on their ignore list.
To be on some 'pants-wetter's' ignore-list is an accolade I actually prize highly. If they can't stand the heat, they'd best get their little snowflake asses out of the kitchen!
I used to have one some time ago, he just used to flood a couple of threads with billions of memes/pictures. Having taken a break and come back, he's no longer here so answer now is none. I know some will give reasons as trolling, rude etc.. but if you have quite a few on ignore, just simply means you dislike an opinion that's not in tune with yours.
It’s strange to me that you would want to ignore people on a political forum. Is the debate not why you’re here? But it looks like there are some here that prefer who they debate with, or in more correct terms… who they agree with.
Perhaps some people 'ignore' others simply because they don't agree, which makes the whole idea of a 'discussion' forum a little silly. But when you encounter people who cannot help but lob insults and dance around the rules with name calling - I don't see that as discussion. I wouldn't engage with that person IRL, so I see no need to encounter it here.
We have one of those here. It's really funny to watch them purposefully avoid any logical discussion because they can't even begin to hold up their end.
I keep at least one of the idiots off ignore because I want to know what the other twenty idiots I DO have on ignore, are parroting.. For me, the ignore button just saves time. Occasionally I'll push the ol' "show ignored content" just to see I am totally justified in ignoring the idiots.
I feel the same way; after all, this is a debate forum and the whole point of a debate forum is to discuss issues with people who do not hold the same views. Wouldn't it be boring if everyone shared the same opinion? Thanks for starting this thread.
As I've said numerous times, the thing I hate more than anything else (ANYTHING) is censorship -- and when you 'block' someone or put them on "ignore", you're really just censoring them. It is beneath my dignity, scruples, ethics, and sense of fairness to 'block' anyone or put them on "ignore", no matter how much they may hate my guts! They have a RIGHT to say, right out in the open, exactly how much they hate someone's guts, why, and all of it in any way they choose to express it, as far as I'M concerned.... . . -- "Thank you for SAYING SO!"
Not here but in another forum a long time ago. Then I would see post from others where the person on ignore figured it out so felt free to lob insults and responses to my post to others, the forum was less moderated than here, so I would see those quoted in other post and have to deal with them so it wasn't worth it to ignore them.
No, that is NOT censorship! If somebody enjoys insulting me PERSONALLY all the time, why should I read those insults? We are talking of INSULTS now, not of different opinions.
Of course I do as I wish. Or did you think you could order me to do otherwise? Or that I would need your permission to do as I wish?
