Fish from the sea...North Atlantic Cod. Fish I catch local...bluegills fried or crappie. I also like blue and channel catfish. Love lobster with melted butter.
This is inarguable, the objective answer is salmon and anyone who disagrees is just plain wrong. Salmon in all forms is the best food on Earth. Could eat it every day for the rest of my life.
Uh...well....I voted for the same thing, but I didn't really deliberate at all. It was a no-brainer. -Meta
Nobody has suggested fish that aren't great (at least of the ones I've tried--Salmon, tuna, rainbow trout), but to me, the best fish is wahoo (ono in Hawaiian). The texture is perfect, and the meat (when raw) is almost translucent. It's kind of like a better version of mahi (and it's a great game fish, similar to mahi). However, on the down-scale side, there's almost nothing better than a pan-fried blue-gill that's smaller than your hand.\ Oh, and whoever put tilapia on the poll knows nothing about fish. Don't get me wrong, I eat tilapia, but it's cheap fish, not good fish.
Wild caught Salmon voted best of the best. Sushi...not grocery store bought crap. ( Tilapia is boring and Ive heard it isn't really good for you)
Well.....if it's any consolation, Tuna is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite fish....right behind Salmon as 1st.
Probably haven't had it done right. It's hard to compare when people in many cases haven't had the fish done right. I've had sushi all over America and in Japan and southeast Asia. Most of the tuna sushi I've had at these places wouldn't leave me saying tuna is the best fish. But what I've had at a couple places puts it far above the rest. The quality of the fish makes all the difference. If you're even in San Diego, look up Nara sushi. Of you're ever in New Hampshire, look up Moritomo. Outside of Japan, easily the two best places I've ever had.
