Wow what a crap upbringing - Ya dad never beat ya mum up in an alcohol rage - Never lost all your teeth through infection, no friends crippled by polio. No eating lead paint flakes or try to set fire to asbestos sheeting. Surely you at least had a broken nose from face planting the windscreen when dad hit the breaks

Kids today, I tell ya, just have it too damn easy **hitches me britches** and get of my damn grass too!!!!

No, the commies didn't end that yet. The commies ruined all of our fun and now we have to sit beside black people in theaters. :steamed: Those Godless commies have no sense of tradition.

Not really, often you need someone like Carter to get a Reagan and Carter looks like Reagan on Steroids compared to Obama. The longer Obama stays in office the more people will learn their lessons about voting responsibly.

I remember when you could go on the computer and talk to who ever you wanted, using the words you wanted, and no one would even think of someone reading what you typed.

When your emails were private. Due to our right to privacy. When phones were not tapped and the media reported news as it happened and without any major bias (Major being key word, there was bias, but not this bad). I used to go outside and play for hours. Heck, I cant even remember what I played, but there were no fear mongers telling us that a terrorist was lurking around every corner.

There was a time when it was hard to tell when a politician was lying, and you had to wait a few years before you really found out. Or at least a few days.

Remember that time we were not at war? We were not really bombing anyone? Oh wait..That wasn't us...Canada

Having a job was great. We used to produce things. Things we could use here. Things like steel and cars. There was no global warming, or cooling, or change. If it was hot, you didn't go out. If it was cold you put on a coat. And no one complained about it. Well we did, but we did not blame anyone for it.

You really think so? I always felt that the Presidents were all members of the same hypocrisy and look at them all in the same light.

So, sad. You are going to have a hard time lighting up the darkness with truth, when nothing but fallacy is allowed to flow from your lips. Two wars, an economic implosion not seen since 1929/1932 and the absolutely 100% guarantee of the losing party in congress, paralyzing any move made to correct an already bad situation.

I doubt seriously that we'd be any better off either with McCain or Romney, but I certainly don't see this current President as having done things that somehow turn the clock back to a time when Ma and Pa, were such fond memories that now simply appear as nightmares in my mind.

I do recall, however, eight (8) years of a national economy being neglected by the previous President, prior to 2008. I recall an illegal war in Iraq, an just as illegal a war in Afghanistan, costing now more than a Trillion dollars projected. I recall perfectly fine aircraft flying into perfectly fine buildings on a perfectly fine day, September 11th, 2001. In fact, I had just landed a Citation IV, the night before at 11:03pm and did not make it home until after midnight that same morning - only to be rudely awaken by CNN's coverage of the second aircraft striking the tower.

I remember, prior to 2008, a nation that was headed in the wrong direction for a number of reasons and in a number of different ways. For example, I distinctly remember fuel prices beginning their ascent and their assault on the American pocketbook. I distinctly recall the foreclosure rate beginning its climb profile into the stratos-FEAR. I remember people a lot of despair and hopelessness about the direction of the country and the future of our economy.

I guess what I'm trying to say to you is that I don't necessarily have memories of Ma baking apple pies and Pa, tossing the pigskin around, so much as I remember Ma, being kicked out of her house by the bank and Pa, having a heart attack because he lost yet another job, prior to 2008.

Moral of the story? When the shoes on the other foot - try another pair of shoes. ;)

Where? My local auto fuel prices were climbing well over $2.00 and my aviation fuel costs were becoming absurdly restrictive. I saw $1.51 and I do remember it, but that was under the Clinton administration, as I do recall - yes, I believe that it so. The highest apex area under Bush 43, was somewhere in the $4.10 region at one point.

Of course, this is all really moot, because it was the financial markets that drove fuel prices - primarily speculators/trader. How do I know? I am a trader (among other things). I helped to push those prices where you saw them under Bush 43 and Obama 44. I know what the market was doing and I know who controlled it.

Now, if you want to toss blame on a doorstep, then pick up the phone and give OPEC a call. And, be sure to tell them Nixon sent you and they will know exactly what you are talking about. ;)

Just a little bit of history repeating itself - that's all. Only this time, we had two wars in close enough proximity to middle eastern oil, that gave OPEC all the excuse it needed to rig the game even higher.

No most of them took an oath to uphold the constitution not destroy it. At least Carter failed because he was inept. Obama appears to be failing but in reality this is exactly what he wanted all along. You see when he took the oath he knew he was lying.

When I was growing up America was respected in the world and the top dog. Now we are not respected and and declining. Other countries have also caught up to us. We were further ahead of countries 20 years ago. The military is still strong but it used to kick a lot more ass during the gulf war and Blackhawk down. Watch "black hawk down" to see how far ahead we were with our technology or how we whopped ass in the gulf war. We were economically successful to and not experiencing a major recession. THe country was also a lot more white. I used to play in my local park and it was all white families and children playing soccer, baseball and walking their dogs and now I went to the same park a few years ago and it was filled with Mexican families doing barbeque.

    January 2009

Job loss: Worst in 34 years
Employers slashed 598,000 more jobs in January [2009] as unemployment rate climbed to 7.6%.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Employers slashed another 598,000 jobs off of U.S. payrolls in January, taking the unemployment rate up to 7.6%, according to the latest government reading on the nation's battered labor market.

The latest job loss is the worst since December 1974, and brings job losses to 1.8 million in just the last three months, or half of the 3.6 million jobs that have been lost since the beginning of 2008.

Market players were also disappointed by reports that U.S. home prices fell 8.7% year-over-year in November, U.S. housing starts fell 15.5% in December, and weekly initial jobless claims rose 62,000 to 589,000.

598,000 Jobs Shed In Brutal January

Unemployment Hits 7.6% as Downturn Picks Up Steam

The need for progress on those fronts seemed more important than ever yesterday, as the Labor Department announced that conditions worsened more than expected last month. The nation's employers shed 598,000 jobs, the most since 1974, driving the unemployment rate to 7.6 percent from 7.2 percent. If the jobless rate keeps rising at the pace it has for the past two months, it will hit double digits in summer and reach its highest rate since the Great Depression by the fall.

That wasn't Bush's fault. The blame for the 2008 economic crash lies squarely at feet of Barack Obama

Sure, I mean, what difference does it make that he was not president for even one day in 2008, really?
