Has anyone noticed some of their hairbrained policies implemented from the Progressive Left.

They pass some new law and then it has predictable but unforeseen consequences.

Then, instead of recognizing maybe they made a mistake and admitting they were wrong, they just want to pass yet another new policy to try to solve the problems of the first.
Of course that policy often has problems of its own.

It reminds me of an old Daffy Duck cartoon called A Dime to Retire.

This is not the full video, but in the end the hotel operator unleashes a mouse to scare away the elephant, thus starting the whole cycle over again.
    Then Porky Pig loses it.

full video can be seen here
Looney Tunes - Dime to Retire - video Dailymotion

Some of these Progressive policies are a lot like those animals in that cartoon. You're just trading one problem for another, and oftentimes the solution causes bigger problems than what the original problem being solved was.

Notice how attractive the idea of that hotel is for Porky Pig at the beginning. A hotel room for only 10 cents, practically free. Some things are too good to be true.

A lot of Progressives seem to have this idea that they can just pass a law and solve a problem for free. But it's not free. They don't think about all the costs it will have.

Didn't watch the video but this is the hallmark of the left. They never think things through before doing something. If it sounds good, just do it. If it doesn't work it is because we didn't do enough of it so we'll just do more of what didn't work and then it will work.

    "Predictable but unforseen".
I suppose that's what qualified this post for the humor & Satire section.

No, the point of this thread ties to a funny cartoon.

The "medicine" ends up being worse than the original disease. Then you pile on more "medicine" to try to treat that.

The same thing exists with many people in society these days on multiple medications taking 30 pills a day, when more than half of them are to treat side effects of the other pills. A real money-maker for the pharmaceutical companies, and many of these people would be better off on no pills than everything they are taking.
    Another analogy.

"Predictable but unforseen" justification for a political documentary in the comedy section.

I'm not convinced that is unique to "progressive" policies and I'm not sure the consequences are always unforeseen. No policy can be perfect. The best things is to come up with something that maximises the benefits and minimises the side-effects but that can often be difficult, expensive or unpopular. What most politicians (regardless of "side" or party) will do is exaggerate and spin the benefits while talking down (often to the point of outright lying) the negative aspects.

Of course, there is the related issue that what some people see as a negative other people might see as a positive (or at least not care about) and vice-versa. Politicians will try to square the circle of pleasing all the people all the time if they can get away with it.

Partisan politics is one of the tools politicians use to achieve these aims so all you're doing here is helping them with their spin and lies. In truth, "progressive" politicians are no more your enemy than any other politicians.
