Good point. There is a fine line between fear and panic. Uncertainty causes the markets to react, usually negatively. A single wrong word spoken or any perceived negative news is enough to make some investors panic and sell. At a certain point computer algorithms take over and the markets can and do drop very fast. The markets got more news that didn't sit well with yesterday's debates. You may think that politics is not a factor. Normally markets are not moved much by politics except when a potential nominee speaks of raising taxes, nationalizing businesses, redistributing wealth and controlling financial interests.

With all of the uncertainty and with markets at near all time highs, the markets seemed to be waiting for an event to trigger a pull back. We are now at near correction levels. Today, there was what I call a sucker rally. It looked good for a couple hours, some negative news got digested and the markets again dropped. Will markets continue to drop? I think they probably will some and volatility may increase until more is know about the current health scare and at least until the results of super Tuesday are known.

There may be some buying opportunities but not enough for most. I would neither be a seller or a buyer for now. If markets drop another 5-7%, I might look to either add to or buy certain stocks that don't have much exposure to China, supply chains, etc.

Until you're stuck at home under quarantine for a few weeks and run out of food. Because that's definitely going to happen before this thing is sorted, all over the world. No nation will escape that part.
