I do not know when the economy is gonna crash, but it is going too, just depends on when we stop the stimulus and fed from dumping money into it, that is the only thing keeping it afloat

we do, but I want to make sure to have plenty of things I can't grow like red meat, fish and eggs

 

You can catch fish and grow eggs at home

Rice... lots of rice.

 

Whats a week's worth of rice, like $10? Even with nothing but rice, a person's survivable rate if everything goes to **** is prolly 10x longer with just a few weeks worth of rice vs no food at all. And it lasts forever as long as its kept dry and away from mice.

 

Chickens can be kept in the burbs, easily. A neighbour of mine in next street is on a 6000sft block and has lots of chickens, vegetables AND bee hives. All fits in easily. We're on a considerably bigger block but only have fruit/veg/chickens. Thinking seriously about adding bee hives.

As for the fishing, yes that's a bit harder. But if you're within an hour of sea/river/lake you can fish once a month and freeze your catch

 

I have a 1500 gallon cement pond with a 500 gallon filter pond. The filter pond is stocked with goldfish, bream and crayfish. The 1500 gallon pond is stocked with bluegill, goldfish, and catfish. The 1500 gallon pond is about 11ftX10ft. Last year I managed to keep both the filter pond and 1500 gallon pond from freezing by covering the filter pond in glass. This year maybe try to keep the temps closer to 50 degrees min. That is why this time both the big and little ponds will be covered with something.... not airtight mind you.

 

With me and prepping is this. Would it be better to raise fish for meat or fish for decoration? You can get a lot of money in a small space with decorative fish. So I decided to do both. I have plenty of time and tanks built at home from salvage glass , so it may be fun.
