President Trump and his tax returns.

Discussion in 'Opinion POLLS' started by Moriah, Apr 7, 2019.

?

Show the returns?

  1. It should be mandatory for Trump to show his tax returns.

  2. It should be voluntary for Trump to show his tax returns.

  3. I don't care one way or the other.

Neither the Treasury Department nor the Justice Department is going to find anything unlawful about being in debt, so the safeguards you're pointing to aren't going to work in the scenario I've described.

I keep asking you why you're arguing that Trump shouldn't release his returns because that's what you're doing. You're arguing for less transparency and I can't think of a single reason why you would do that in any scenario let alone the precedent it sets going forward towards unknown candidates from any party. Do you agree that the potential for leverage and blackmail exist if any president is in debt to some foreign entity for 50 or 100 million dollars and that information is actively being withheld from us for the first time in modern history?

In the abstract, does the potential exist?

What do you mean by being transparent, in particular to tax returns?

    What will that achieve?

He could earn a billion dollars and the accountants that he uses have probably worked every avenue so he paid peanuts in tax. So now what?

Could you post a copy of yours, I'm intrigued. I would like you to be transparent.

This is all we really need to know. His actions do not back up his words. I Don't give 2 hoots what is on his returns. I already know he lacks integrity.

I knew that long before he ran for president.

What will it achieve - the fulfillment of a promise that TRUMP made to his voters and the American people. I know that doesn't mean much to Trump FanBoys, but it was Trump who promised this.

I know, but don't you think you should measure yourself to the same standard that you wish to judge others against? Or are you a ''do as I say, not what I do' type of person?

If I choose to run for President, I would be prepared to make my taxes public---the same way every other President in recent years has done. I have not ran for President, so I don't have to make my taxes public.
It isn't a matter of holding myself to the same standard as I hold others; that doesn't really apply.

From Nixon onwards, the presidents releasing tax returns have just been utter bakes in doing so. Doesn't matter what they show. If you can offset income etc.. against various losses to various companies etc.. you just end up paying little in tax. If your accountant means you paid **** loads in tax, you need a new accountant. Tax is just theft. How can you pay tax for your government to pay for and commit an illegal war in Iraq? The less you pay, the better.

In the UK, only David Cameron has ever released a tax return, to shut up a dispute about family finances.

Why you lot get so het up (angry and agitated) over tax returns is beyond me. Transparency is the biggest BS argument as to a reason.

And anyone who thinks it's a moral duty to pay tax, knock your pan in and donate away.

You aren't bothered by the fact that the president of the US is particularly obligated to the ruler and/or government of a foreign power, a foreign power that is an enemy? WTF? You don't care that our president shows a bias to a foreign entity who is an enemy, a bias based on his financial dealings with that country? That is pathetic you don't care. And, if the president doing that were a Democrat, you'd be very concerned about it. The fact the president doing it is a Republican means his supporters turn their eyes away and ignore something that should not be tolerated.

I dont believe his tax returns would show that he is obligated to a foreign power though it may show dealings with Russians. As to showing bias, all presidents show favoritism to countries they prefer to work with. Finally I am not a supporter or a Republican.

He is very obviously in indebted to Putin for some reason. There is absolutely no other reason for his fawning over him again and again. No reason for him to accept Putin's statements about almost everything and disregard the research of our intelligence agencies. He has shown a definite partiality toward Putin: it is probably because of his own business interests in Russia. This is not at all appropriate for a president of the US. Our president owes allegiance to the people of the US, not to a Russian dictator.

He doesn't, you just made that up. It doesn't bother you that Hillary Clinton got $145 million from Putin then went on to start a campaign to ease sanctions on Russia? Or that Obama spied on Trump? Why did Obama spy on Trump, lie about rigged elections and then after they lost the election, started the Russia narrative?

Putin led Obama around by his nose.

Nice straw man. Sounds like more people unwilling to accept the Mueller report. The President has handled Russia very well. Far better than Obama did who literally gave Russia the Crimea and did nothing about it. Was Obama working for Putin? Or maybe he was too afraid to stand up to a dictator. Putin could do whatever he wanted as long as Obama was in charge.
