President Trump Signs Defense Bill Creating Space Force — First New Military Branch Since 1947

    ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, MARYLAND — Flanked by two fighter jets and in front of a giant American flag, President Trump on Friday signed the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act that officially created the Space Force, the sixth and first new military branch since 1947.

    “For the first time since Truman, we will create a brand new American military service,” Trump said. “You will witness the birth of the Space Force. That’s a big moment and we’re all here for it.” “Space is the world’s newest warfighting domain,” Trump said. “American superiority in space is absolutely vital.” The creation of the Space Force marked the achievement of one of the president’s top national priorities. The new branch will reside inside the Air Force.

    Another Trump achievement in what has turned out to be a month full of achievements.

    No doubt, other nations will increase their presence in space, and so its important to have a head start militarily.

    In addition to military duties, it may also play a role in asteroid defense.

    As described in the United States Space Force Act, the U.S. Space Force will be organized, trained, and equipped to:[4]

    1. "Provide freedom of operation for the United States in, from, and to space"
    2. "Provide prompt and sustained space operations"
    Duties
    The duties of the Space Force include to:[5]

    1. "Protect the interests of the United States in space"
    2. "Deter aggression in, from, and to space"
    3. "Conduct space operations"

    Reside inside the air force? Damn! That means that the rank designations will not be naval in form. Captain Kirk and Picard are going to have to receive equivalent rank designations of colonels and so forth and so on. Arrrrrrrgh!

    That aside, very nice Trump. You just dragged this nation kicking and screaming into the 21st century. It's about time that somebody did in regards to our military and in regards to the final frontier.

    Trump's on schedule to outspend Obama. He's the first President to over-spend $1trillion every year of his Presidency.

    Trump's economic achievements for Americans speak for themselves.

    Obama defined success by the number of people dependent on foodstamps.

    Trump will likely be like Reagan before him-remembered as a great POTUS despite continuous leftist protests in front of Aldi stores.
