Not too surprising. At his age, very few people have clean arteries anymore.

I keep my arteries clean with water. What that doesn't clear out, scotch takes care of. Also, I take Red Yeast Rice each morning.

I hope he has a speedy recovery.

What I would like to see is his competitors visiting him in the hospital. That would set and example of getting personal hostility out of the political race.

Until one of them injected 20 ml of potassium chloride straight into his IV. :)

I hope he bounces back and I think he will.

Can you imagine the publicity they would get with the headline "Warren visits Sanders in hospital, wishes him well". If I was a candidate, that's what I would do.

Quite the opposite in fact. With Bernie out of the way, Warren is most likely to benefit.

Anyway I hope Bernie has the best of care in that Havana hospital.

That would be super smart on Warren's account if she did that.

Yeah I always tell my self that if I had known I was going to live this long I'd have taken better care of myself. That being said Bernie's about decade older than you were when you has your surgery,. and as any decent surgeon will tell you complications from surgery become more likely as you get older.

Yeh, but you aren’t running. I’d be tempted to vote for you. Even if you didn’t go see Bernie. Warren, not so much whether she wishes Bernie well or not. :)

Seriously, I agree with you. Politicians are not the best and brightest among us.

Good for you. I just hit seventy-one myself. My wife is sixty-eight she had a stroke 4 years ago and discovered she had diabetes at the same time. She still hanging in there kicking but it isn't fun any more. Between she and I it's easier to list the stuff we can eat than it is the stuff we can't. Ah well such is life. By the way Bernie wouldn't be the first guy exit feet first of natural causes while campaigning for president.

Regardless of party, nobody should be running for their first term as President in their late 70's. It is utterly absurd. The odds of death and/or dementia are too great, and lets face it, even if someone is still sharp at age 78, they were undoubtedly sharper at age 65, and they are only going to decline in the coming years. The role of the Presidency deserves someone at their sharpest.

It seems to me that the ideal age for a President would be more like 55 or 60, where they have acquired maximum wisdom while still retaining their mental edge.

Thanks :). I always held the opinion that, in my professional life, being nice wins over being nasty (obviously, I have trouble to always adhering to this motto here on the forum :)). Nothing takes the wind out of someone's sail in a meeting more than when you are really nice to them after they have attacked you.

Unfortunately, politicians have been trained for so long on the campaign trail that negative campaigning wins, that they can't do anything else when they come to the point of running for president. It's a tragedy.
