For all of you religious freaks, men and women who think they are high and mighty and keep this ridiculous argument of why or why not abortion is wrong, let's keep to the facts, PLEASE.

The fact is it's legal, so you have no argument. Let's break down the categories of people who will leave string upon string of comments whining for their time to be ignorant, when they never have had an abortion or have been in that kind of situation. If you have, I would LOVE to hear what you have to say. Unfortunately anyone can reply. Note, I HAVE HAD AN ABORTION, so this is extremely valid.

1.) The Christians. *Cringes*....gah. The Evangelists are the worst. You can be/do/practice/believe WHATEVER the hell you want to. Unless I'm trying to convert, DON'T PUT YOUR BELIEFS ON ME. Especially people in politics trying to make biblical law into constitutional law *cough Rick Perry*. Or people on here saying YOUR WRONG NO MATTER WHAT BECAUSE JESUS SAYS I'M RIGHT. GOD LOVES BABIES!!!!!! That's your religion, NOT MINE. So f*ck off. Guess what, there is this little clause that says "CHURCH IS SEPARATE THAN STATE", or at least were supposed to be.

2.) MEN. Unless you were a support to a women going through this, don't even TRY. Of course, you will, because you want people to think your cool. Or, if you're some kind of chauvinistic male who EVEN THINKS they can have an opinion....oh wait...oh THAT'S right! You don't have a uterus, have to carry a child for nine months and get the emotional and physical anguish from an unwanted/unplanned pregnancy! You just get more control over that woman! *Slaps forehead*.....of COURSE YOU SHOULD HAVE AN OPINION. You just deposited your sperm and don't need to worry...well, cept' for child support if you tell her NOT to get an abortion.

3.) WOMEN who say, "I don't believe in that, it's just wrong to KILL, I'm not religious or anything and I'm a MOMMY :0 ;) :p". Well, good for you ladies!!! *Fake applauds your ignorant thinking*. It's not a person yet, it's a cluster of cells that has human potential. Don't confuse your drooling lump of born baby with a cluster of cells. This is talking about situations where WE DON'T WANT TO BE A MOTHER.

Now back to my original point. Abortion is an extremely painful, desperate and unfortunate situation. Being one who experienced it, you honestly shouldn't even have an opinion unless you or a loved one has had to do it. I had no choice, was in school, couldn't support myself and a kid and MY birth control methods failed. NOT FUN.

So f*ck everyone who says things like "Well women should keep their legs closed"! Well guess what everyone, most normal thinking human beings like sex! Surprising huh? Reproducing is fun, natural, healthy and great exercise. Especially in our sexually charged society, people are doing it younger and younger. Why do you think there are so many unplanned pregnancies? I was lucky because mine was a choice-I had sex with my now loving husband, but some women are FORCED.

1.) Rape victims-are you going to tell them they can't have an abortion? That if they were raped by a family member they have to keep an inbred child? Yay Christians!

2.) Underage children who get pregnant before 18 years of age-Are you going to require they get a note to end pregnancy and in some cases get beaten and kicked out for it? If the child survives, then their baby will be raised in that hostile household. GREAT! Good for society right???!!! The only time its OKAY for that age to have a child is if she has SUPPORT and LOVE. Most teens in that situation don't.

3.) Everyone else who makes a conscious decision to terminate their pregnancy. There are literally THOUSANDS of reasons, and guess what, were better off as a society because of the brave and tough decision these women made and make.

Let me tell you why. You Republicans are going to love this. If abortion is made illegal, then guess what goes up? SPENDING. Women forced to have unwanted children require A LOT of medical care. Now...who gets to pay for that.....YOU DO! Taxpayers! In the case of young women who are supporting themselves, working a low-wage job and trying to go to school at the same time need HELP. Welfare help in some cases! Food stamp help! Emergency room help! Guess what else happens????? Classroom sizes go up! Also, the class difference gets EVEN WIDER!! Now the wealthy and low-class are even more separated than ever!!! Kids who were born without the support of father go up, which leads to gang violence! Kids who were born with parents of little income want to make some money, so they start dealing drugs!

Look, you can tell me I'm 'making assumptions', 'it's not true' or just plain ignore it. I live and work with these kids and see it EVERY SINGLE DAY. There are so many statistics on single-parents in low income neighborhoods, ect. RESEARCH IT. Of course there are success stories and great single-parents, but sadly not for all children. My sister is a police officer in a big city and guess the horrible stuff she sees....its disgusting. Unwanted babies in trash cans, or drowned. It's SICKENING. That's why having an abortion in a safe environment, EARLY in the pregnancy so it is STILL just a cluster of cells, not a breathing baby killed after birth by a worried woman.

Don't even try with the adoption crap. It is a WONDERFUL gift to give, and admirable. It is NOT an abortion however and is still risky, emotional and OBVIOUSLY not a choice some people want to make, which is why this thread is about ABORTION.

So while you're thinking of your quirky, mean, ignorant, thoughtful, sweet, hilarious or rude reply, just keep in mind the women who have gone through it. A practice that has been going on for thousands of years to help save the lives of those already alive here on earth. Peace and love!

Great idea. Let's start with the fact that not all pro-life arguments are religious in nature. You are jumping to an overt conclusion right out of the gate.

Try to practice a little of what you preach if you want this to be a productive thread.

So everything that is legal is correct and just by default. Interesting. Then why did people make such a fuss about slavery? Afterall, it was legal. According to you, the abolitionists had no argument.

But I have been in that situation, sweetheart. My girlfriend and I chose to keep our child. We didn't back out like a couple of selfish cowards. We did the right thing and took the responsibility for our choices. So maybe you're not the all-knowing authority on the subject that you think you are, hmm?

Interesing that you're condemning others for pushing their beliefs on you while simultaneously condemning them for not sharing your views ("Pro-Choice IS the only answer. That's it). A little hypocritical, don't you think?

Well, being that I have supported a woman going through this, I guess that makes me qualified, huh? Here's the thing; protecting an innnocent life has nothing to do with having a uterus. It has to do with having a conscience.

I'd also like to add that your post sounds incredibly sexist. "You just get more control over that woman!" smacks of a strong misandrist streak.

Close your legs if you don't want to be a mother. Not that hard really. Unless you're new to sex and you don't know that penis + vagina = baby.

And technically speaking, you're also a cluster of cells. What makes you different?

I also can't help but notice you just insulted born children as well ("your drooling lump of born baby"). You're just mad at everyone, aren't you?

Pathetic. You had a choice. I was in a similar situation to you. And I had a choice. And I made the right one. You chose the easy way out to avoid inconvenience. Rationalize it however you want, but it is what it is. I'm sorry that you felt that you didn't have a choice. But that doesn't make it true.

I won't speak for anyone but myself, but I fully agree that sex is healthy and enjoyable. But it comes with risks. Know the risks, weigh them, and be responsible. If you can't handle the risks, don't do it. Like anything in life.

This is a tough one. Because it is the only argument from your side that really doesn't have an easy answer. And to be honest, I don't really know how to feel about it. But fortunately, the percentage of abortions from rape is extremely miniscule. Something like 2-3% if I'm not mistaken.

Then shouldn't we be fixing the problem at the root? What kind of families are these kids coming from if they are getting pregnant at that age and their parents are kicking them out?

The broken family structure is the primary cause of a great many of modern society's ills. If that were fixed, a lot of things like this would disappear significantly.

Killing your child is never brave and tough. It is cowardly and selfish. I'm sorry that you need the validation of feeling like you are some kind of empowered person for having an abortion, but what you have truly done is one of the most heartless things a person can do. And I am sorry that you feel the need to keep defending it.

The system does need some tweaking. I'll be the first to admit that. But you don't help somebody by enabling them. Which is basically what you are suggesting.

And not to get off on a different subject, but the class warfare game is a ruse. The wealth gap is a made up problem intended to incite envy and greed among people in lesser circumstances.

Absolutely. Single parent households breed a lot of problems. Which is why I said what I said above. Fixing the family structure should become a significant social priority for our culture because most of society's problems stem from there.

And it will get you a lot further than just killing your children. Aside from being apallingly sociopathic, that's not even fixing the problem. It's just putting a band-aid on it.

You didn't even make a good argument here. Come on, you can do better than that.

Forgive me for laughing, but I couldn't help myself. You just punctuated a caustic, vitriolic tirade where you dumped endless hate on all kinds of different people with "Peace and love."

You seem like a very angry person. And very judgmental. Which I don't quite understand since you make such a big spectacle about other people judging you. Your arguments here seem very emotional and not very focused on conveying rational points. And I don't think they did anything to advance your position. If I were undecided on this issue and stumbled across this post, I would get the impression that abortion makes people angry. So it's best to avoid it. Because for as stauchly as you defend it, it clearly doesn't seem to have brought you any peace.

Anyway, I'm sorry you went through what you went through. Perhaps someday you'll see things from a different perspective.

    All the best.

So you defend abortion by launching personal attacks against those who oppose it? That is weak support.

Sure, they are. Those anti-abortion arguments that aren't based on an established religion are made by fetus-worshippers.

The fact that it is legal at least indicates that a large number of people support it. When an action is supported by a large number of people, those objecting should at least reconsider their objections.

You CHOSE to do what YOU BELIEVE to be the RIGHT thing, but you don't want to allow anyone else to have that choice. You don't have any special insight into what IS the RIGHT thing.

I didn't see anything in her post suggesting that women should be forced to have abortions.

Are you somehow under the impression that YOU PROTECTED an "innocent life" because you supported a pregnant woman? You need to understand this: ONLY the pregnant woman can protect the fetus. So I guess it does have something to do with having a uterus.

Unfortunately, it's only too true that many anti-abortionists' top priority is controlling women. More unfortunately, there are many women in that group.

Penis+vagina can occur with closed legs, additional measures are necessary to prevent pregnancy. So please find some other vulgar term to convey that women should resist their own human drives at all cost.

She's a cluster of differentiated cells, some of which are differentiated to allow her body to function independently or individually.

Not everyone is enamoured with infants.

She made the choice that was right for her. You made the choice that was right for you apparently. You can quit patting yourself on the back for your choice and castigating others for making a different choice.

That's ideal. If the less than ideal occurs, then fix it.

really? Name one. On what other rational basis can one consider a single cell a child?

there is something to be said about laws that are made by a self determined people. They do reflect what people want.

So the truth does come out. The (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) MUST be punished.

If you have to ask you will never understand.

Who made you and authority on what is right? At best it was the right decision for you, I am not even sure about her.

Who said that? It is scientifically the first stage of human development. Are you denying that?

You misunderstood the question. I am sorry if ti was too complicated fro you, but one can only go so low on the intellectual scale before loosing relevance. Still, for your benefit, the question was What rational reason can be brought against abortion without the religion?
That means it was NOT asking what the zygote is. If you can muster the ability make an effort and address that question.

So nothing rational. You just wish to impose on women because you think some laws are inconsistent.

Consistency in homicide laws is "irrational"?

    You are losing it!
