Liberal colleges have expelled kids for singing songs they claim are racist, shut down straight pride gatherings because they “don’t represent our values,” and so on. There’s a huge disparity and contradiction on how the liberals enforce free speech.

The First Amendment says only CONGRESS shall not restrict speech - it says nothing about a university. Also, freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. C'mon man, you know that.

Yet, as atrocious as this lady's comments about Barbara Bush, her speech is protected under the CSU system. I don't doubt other public universities may have use the same guidelines.

 

You're forgetting the fact that it's a state school. Firing a government employee over speech can be a first amendment violation.

 

I may not like it, but that doesn't mean they cannot give their opinion under the first amendment.
