LOL! You just can't take yes for an answer. YES, the Democrat pols should refuse to bend to Trump's demand for $5.7B for The Wall.
I admire there willingness to ignore political expediency. They should keep the government shut until 11/2020. Voters will reward their political courage and determination. Count on it. ;-)

When the 'yes' come with an attempt to blatantly mislead, I don't want it. The way you handle this, is to write that second sentence. Then you stop writing. Because the lies start directly thereafter. Dems cannot shut down a government by passing the budgets to fund the government. Dems shut down the government by refusing to send budgets that fund it.

You underestimate the power and wisdom of your party's leaders. They could cave to Trump's demand for $5.7B and end the shutdown, but they are truly brave principled politicians who will never - never! bend to Trump's will. Never, never, never ... - Isn't that right?

And I am with you guys all the way to 11/2020 if that's what takes. Just be strong! That will really show that awful DJT. ;-)

They have already ended their role in the shutdown when they passed the Senate's budgets. They have finished their job. The Senate has to decide if they will vote in favor of the same bill they supported unanimously to fund the government or not. Then the President decides whether he will vote to fund the government. You lie when you suggest the House hasn't done their work. McConnell's compromise, the one he negotiated, with both the President and the House, and the one he voted for , is sitting on his desk once again. its not about principle. Its about the Senate and the President deciding whether they still want government funded or not.

There were protests nationwide today by people who aren't going to be getting a check tomorrow. But wait, in two more weeks if the shutdown persists, they will miss their second paycheck. As I've been saying, most people are two paychecks away from bankruptcy and that's the truth. Missing a second paycheck cycle is really going to flip a major switch and people are going to take to the streets en masse, and they're not going to be peacefully protesting with signs and singing songs. They're going to be scared, angry and desperate. That may be the moment Trump calls a national emergency and calls out the national guard to control them and it will be justified. It's not going to be like anything many of us have seen before in our history.

Some Democrats, not you of course, are now urging their leaders to cave into Trump's demand for The Wall. I say stand strong defy Trump and keep the government shut down. Isn't that your position too? Your not going all wobbly on me are you - comrade? ;-)

You're so controlled by right-wing fringe elements that it's sad. Your mind is closed off to anything other than the words of those who control you, others from the fringe right.

My position is that your premise is wrong. Dems aren't keeping the government shut down. Dems in the House passed the bills to fund it. Dems in the senate have not had the chance to vote those bills. That means the rest of your post is garbage.

All they have to do to end the shutdown is cave into Trump's demand that they fund The Wall. And that would be like waay wrong - right?

I am with you bro - never give in! Never! :)

They already ended their part in it. So the rest of your post is meaningless.

Can’t wat for russia to lend us some of their rubles. Or airdrop some chicken legs. Half-hungry russians would love it to airdrop a bunch of food to poor Americans!

They cannot legally receive both. Chances are, whatever they receive in Unemployment, will be deducted from their wages.

I have seen that and have also been offered $.50 on the dollar for EBT before they had the cards.

I am horrified at that suggestion!
In reality though, a number of people who receive assistance do work. Just not enough to make them ineligible for benefits. There are some true situations that people need a hand getting by, unfortunately, they are painted with the same paintbrush as the scum puppies.

Exactly how is one supposed to weed out the scum puppies initially?

Narrow the eligibility to individuals who are physically unable to work

The best thing government can do for scum puppies is introduce them to work
