What a terrible thing for the People of Hong Kong - to watch a bunch of criminals destroy their city - and they're probably being paid to do it. If the anarchists follow the rule book correctly, the next step will be snipers, that way they can get their martyrs and blame China.

Massive fires raged at the campus of Hong Kong Polytech University, where anti-government protesters holed up, pelting petrol bombs at riot police and pleading for the "democratic world" to save them.

The campus turned into a battleground between the rioters hurling Molotov cocktails and rocks, and police deploying tear gas and water cannon, as videos from the scene early Monday morning show an inferno rising near the staircase to the building.

If I was a Hong Kong citizen I'd be burning down that Chinese army building, not universities.

I bet Hong Kong wish they had the status of Taiwan right about now.

they also start making napalm, which is ban by international organization. guess they got access to university chem lab to make those. they also making arrow and javelin, which is more lethal compare to police rubber bullet. I can see the police gonna bring in assault rifle to balance out the firepower. rioter also shutdown one of the busiest tunnel/high way prevent people work/going home from those highways.

The protesters/anarchists are now trapped in the building with no water and food and are now screaming for help. Thousands are trying to help them, but are being stopped by tear gas. The police have given the trapped anarchists directions on how to exit and that they will be arrested.

I think Hong Kong realizes that it's their last chance to maintain its two systems, one country agreement before China marches in.

Protesters need to chill. And China needs to go the hell away.

    Party line.
PS. I’m surprised that the Red Army hasn’t made more of an appearance. China has apparently learnt from its’ mistakes and know knows that mass murder isn’t the way to go.

What do you suggest they do? Surrender to mainland rule?

I bet they wish they were Taiwanese right about now.

Good for them. There’s Thermopylae, the Alamo, and now Polytechnic University. Liberty will never bow to tyrants—-though apparently there are some here, who, like Trump, never met a dictator whose ass they wouldn’t kiss.

Well these so called protesters (anarchists) are getting a dose of their own medicine and being set on fire by their own bombs - and I don't think they like it.

Several Hong Kong protesters have fallen victim to their own petrol bombs amid clashes with riot police. Disturbing videos show demonstrators engulfed in flames as their panicked comrades try to help.

Smiling at the death of liberty? How many lies does it take for those that smile at liberty bleeding to fall asleep at night?

In that fire, there’s an individual writhing in agony. His sin? He wants to be free and live his live pursuing his own happiness. Truly, unforgivable.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? WTF was Jefferson thinking off? Such a naive idealist.

The same number of lies it takes to acquiesce in murder of children, as collateral damage, in war.

The first of those is prime. War immediately violates it.

Yes. They achieved repeal of the extradition of law long ago.

Their violent protests are now ideological, or rather, senseless, since 2047 is less than 3 decades away.

You mean separated by the Taiwan strait?

It won't be long before the PLA will be strong enough to raise the finger to the US.

At that point the 'liberal democracies' will need to be able demonstrate their moral superiority.

At present many liberal democracies including the US are imploding into mere 'blind leading the blind' rabbles.

And the human rights abuses related to entrenched poverty in the West will also need to be eradicated.

Excuse me, the Chinese did nothing to them other than having their soldiers clean up some of the mess made by the anarchists. The only interference Hong Kong had, is the one from the usual regime change freaks.

The freaks aren't satisfied that they turned the richest administration of the USSR (Ukraine) into the poorest in Europe; destroyed Libya the wealthiest country in Africa and made it a failed state; destroyed Iraq as well as Syria.

How can people like that sleep at night knowing they are the direct and indirect cause of millions of deaths? Oh well Germany, Japan and the USSR had their day, but not any more - and neither will we.

In America, we know freaks (anarchists). They’re the ones who disrupt G-7 meetings with violence. Young, naive fools.

I bet there is some of that in Hong Kong. But the majority just don’t want to give up Western freedoms to live under the totalitarian regime in Beijing.

Until you can implement freedom from entrenched poverty and stagnant mean wages growth amidst growing inequality, your Western "freedoms" will deservedly continue to attract the attention of anarchists at cushy change-nothing meetings like the G7.

Speaking as someone who's lived in mainland China and has been to Hong Kong several times before, it's sad to watch all this. It kind of reminds me of the Ferguson riots. Most people were protesting peacefully, but a few *******s started throwing stuff, then the police overreacted and attacked peaceful protesters and the media. And then it escalated from there.

People should not be setting fires or vandalizing. At the same time, police should not be harassing peaceful protesters on campuses.

Let's not equate Jefferson and our highly devout Christian Founding Fathers with a bunch of paid anarchists, who seem to pop up wherever there are protests so they can kill and maim for some ideologues nefarious purpose. Anyone whose ideals requires the maiming and murders of others and the destruction of properties should be in a psychiatric ward, and not paying others to run around and destroy people's lives.

I see no difference between them and: Marx, Lenin, Trotsky, Hitler. I won't mention Stalin, because he at least fought evil in WWII, and didn't simply espouse it like the rest.

    What we were once,
    we've ceased to be,
    for times have changed now,
    can't you see?

    The flag that once
    waved high and true
    is now all worn,
    forlorn and blue.

    And mourns for days
    when we had pride
of noble words and not of lies. - Jeannette

But they're not living under the totalitarian government in Beijing, and by the time they do, Beijing is going to be a lot different from what it is now. To me the protests in Hong Kong, (and this goes back a few years), was done with the hope it would spread to mainland China since Hong Kong was their weakest point. It's not working though because most nations have wised up and are kicking out the NGO's.

Right now the people in China are even more adamantly against the West than they were before.
