9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
(it is better to be despised and have a servant than to be self honoring and lack bread)

11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.
(To gain bread, till the land. But to follow after vain persons or ideas is void of understanding)

2 A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
(A wicked man has wicked schemings)

10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
(The righteous regards even the life of his pets: but the tender mercies of the wicked is as cruelty)

12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
(The wicked, with his/her wicked schemes, desires the catch of spoil of evil men: but the root of the righteous will yield fruit)

13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
(The wicked is snared by the wrongs of his lips)

17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
(The person who speaks truth brings forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit)

2 A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
(The righteous person's thoughts are right: but the counsels the wicked give are deceit: it is as a false witness)

17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
(The lip of truth is going to be established for ever: but the lying tongue is not)

20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellers of peace is joy.
(Deceit is in the heart of wickedness: so also within the hearts of the counsellers of only peace and joy)

Do not think that every individual has peace and joy and be leery of those that say that the world, with its fullness, is peace and joy.

Romans 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"

If there are none righteous, not [even] one, then how can 1 Corinthians 11:14 have any validity?

    Romans 3

11There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

12They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

13Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:

14Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

15Their feet are swift to shed blood:

16Destruction and misery are in their ways:

17And the way of peace have they not known:

18There is no fear of God before their eyes.

    Psalm 14

1The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

2The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

3They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

So, a person might ask, what constitutes 'lengths' to the term 'long hair'?

Instead of looking at it from the worldly definitions, approach it from the Holy Biblical perspective.

Leviticus 21:10 "And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;"

    uncover: 6544. para'
avenge, avoid, bare, go back, make naked, perish,

A primitive root; to loosen; by implication, to expose, dismiss; figuratively, absolve, begin -- avenge, avoid, bare, go back, let, (make) naked, set at nought, perish, refuse, uncover.
    http://biblehub.com/strongs/hebrew/6544.htm

the high priest shall not 'uncover' his head: the high priest shall not keep his head/hair in a loosened way, in a dismissed way, in a neglected way, in a set at nought way, in a 'i don't care' way. otherwise known as unkempt.

    John 15:25

"But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause."

Jesus Christ was not 'hated' of by His Own because He was a 'rebel' appearing revolutionary.

Strangely enough, when Jesus Christ came unto Israel through the virgin birth of His mother, Mary, Israel was already repopulated from after the Babylonian Captivity. Most of those living in Israel during the times of the Temple of Solomon were taken captive into Babylon. The Temple was destroyed and a few from among the poor were left in Israel to tend to the land and to rule. And while most of Israel was 'abandoned' and without inhabitant, it was repopulated from the outsiders coming into the land as well as those who left Babylon to go back to Israel after its 70 year captivity. And so when Jesus Christ was born in Israel, the land was no longer only inhabited by of The Sons of Jacob. It had many others within it, including the Ishamelites.

    Jeremiah 40
"1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon."

    Jeremiah 41:1
"Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mizpah."

So when Jesus Christ was born, He was addressing both the 'samaritans and gentiles' as well as some some sons of Jacob within Israel.

And that is why the record of how Jesus Christ prophesied of the Prophet Muhammad is recorded in The Noble Qur'an.

And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad." And from the verse of Jeremiah 41:1, we can know that the Ismaelites were of the King of Babylon's lineage, or the seed royal and princes of the king. So Babylon is the land(s)/Kingdom which God had promised to give to Ishmael, the son of Abram and Hagar.

    Genesis 17
"15And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. 16And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her. 17Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? 18And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! 19And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. 20And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. 21But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year. 22And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham."

But remember that Abram/Abraham is the father of faith, both to the 'uncircumcision' as well as to the 'circumcision'.

From Abram to Abraham. From uncircumcised to circumcised. But still the father of faith for both.

And so now the world has the children of Abram/Abraham, the father of faith, being from the same parent, warring and fighting with one another all for the Name of God's sake although both of them share the same father.

The world with its lies and half truths and partial truths and incomplete truths, coming from both their religious teachers as well as the others', has blinded their hearts and minds to be able to receive even the basic truth of their very own history.

These lies and teachers of lies are the shaitans and gods of this world. Not any fallen Holy angelic beings...

It is the lies, half truths, partial truths, incomplete truths.. these are the shaitans and god(s) of this world.

The Jews enjoy tracing their heritage back to Moses. The Arabs enjoy tracing their heritage back to Abram.

The Jewish people enjoy tracing their heritage back to Moses.
The Arab people enjoy tracing their heritage back to Abram.

But both are from the same lineage(s) from their paternal side.

With men, there is brotherhood. When 'women' are added, there arises contentions. And if adultery hearted women; then a turning away.

And keep in mind whose hand reached out to take of the fruit, which was pleasant to the eyes.

    Genesis 3:6

"And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat."

From this we can get a glimpse into what the woman desires from within her heart.

    - Good for food.
    - Pleasant to the eyes.
    - Desire.
    - Wisdom.

The natural heart of a woman; however, does not have a desire to 'rule'. That is given unto the man.

    Genesis 3:16
"Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."

    he said: 'wisdom'
thy conception: 'pleasant to the eyes/children'
    in sorrow: 'good for food/work'
    thy husband: 'desire'

women ought to 'choose' their husbands very carefully and wisely seeing that their husbands shall become their 'desire'. If the husband is not diligent in upkeeping his duties as a husband, he can have his wife's 'desire' to be content with many things she might not have originally have had within her heart.

For men, it could be, 'from rags to riches'..

For women, it could be, 'from Princesses to poverty'.

Every daughter, EVERY, is a Princess.

Every son, EVERY, was made 'upright' but they have sought out many 'inventions'.

Ecclesiastes 7:29 "Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions."

    Deuteronomy 13:6-8
"If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; 7Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; 8Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:"

if thy brother, thy son, thy friend (which is of the same sex/race/ethncity) entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve (desire) other gods (are not humans as 'gods'?), you should really not consent nor hearken lest they bring in destructions.

    thy husband: 'desire'
    inventions: 'desire'

John 10:34 "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?"

    Luke 3:7-14

"Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. 9And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

10And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then? 11He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise. 12Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do? 13And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you. 14And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages."

Ecclesiastes 7:29 "Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions."

    they were not 'content'.

I'm enjoying the thread Delade. May I ask you a couple of questions? Why did you choose these verses in this order? Are you left to believe that God is, at least, as sovereign over His creation as an author is over his?

Rubbish. The Ishmael mentioned was a descendant of the royal house of Zedekiah, the last king of Judah. He was jealous of Gedaliah's success at ruling Judah under the Babylonians, and plotted rebellion. Gedaliah didn't want to believe the treachery and eventually lost his life and rule. The Babylonians invaded Judah. Ishmael escaped to Ammon, who had helped his rebellion.

In any case Abraham, Isaac, Jacob are all part of an historical novel.

that's what many say and truly might believe. but it's okay.. those that believe such neither gain nor lose. They still have to eat and drink and work and pay bills. But for them to not enter into the broader scope of life, not only in The U.S. but in many other Countries and persons, is like keeping yourself in a box you made for yourself.

Another load of Rubbish. Mostly the wealthy, artisans and craftsmen were transported to Babylon. Probably around 10,000. The farmers and land workers and poor were allowed to remain. There's no evidence of an influx of strangers. You're thinking of the Assyrians invading the Northern Kingdom, removing many of the people - in 2 stages - and replacing them with outsiders. These were the 'samaritans' of Jesus time. And much of Palestine in Jesus time was occupied by Greeks anyway, who moved there under Alexander the Great.

Nothing to do with the Qu'ran which is simply Mohammed twisting the Tanakh for his own purposes.

You are simply twisting scripture and using your imaginative history for some purpose.

You really are ignorant of scripture. Jews consider Abraham to be their father, not Moses. It is the Levitical priesthood that is traced back to Moses time and the Levi tribe. High Priests to Aarons line.

And the idea of circumcision being indicative of being Jewish is actually nonsense. Many nations of the time had a form of circumcision for health reasons. These things were all dreamed up when the scribes wrote the Fable of Abraham, Moses etc. in the 7th centuryBCE. That's where Islam falls down. Mohammed had 'visions' of things that never were - that never happened. History itself proves that.
