No, not publish, but they should be reported to the appropriate organizations to ensure they are within the law.
In theory i agree that donations should be public knowledge. However with the intent being to punish those who support someone you dont like a whole new playing field is created. A field that is rooted in the same hate and division that people claim they are against. Based almost entirely on feeling. If i had my way this wouldn't even be a question. I would do away with all private campaign donations to individuals and/or parties. Instead all funds would go to a common pool that is distributed equally among candidates. Make election more about people and less about money.
"hate and division" is not the same as not doing business with a donor to a politician one does not like. Don't patronize the business, and then explain why privately and publicly. I firmly agree with public funding of campaigns.
I am all for personal choice and the right to both patronize who we choose as well as refuse to serve who we choose. I would starve. If i followed trending public mindset. I would not patronize or serve anyone who was a democrat or republican. lucky for me im not judgmental to the point of stupidity. At the end of the day we are all supposed to be americans. we are all in this together. We can agree to disagree and still work together. We are moving away from that and big picture implication is that we are falling back into tribal segregation. We are showing that people of different points of view and opinions cannot co exist in a large scale civilization. We are not nearly as civilized as we like to think we are. If the human species has not evolved from its tribalistic, intolerant, and violent origins. If we can't even get along as americans. How will we ever get along as earthlings.
Yes, as it's required by the landmark GOP legislation commonly known as the McCain Act, or as I prefer to refer to it, the "Guy no liberal voted for until it had a substantial impact on our republic because they didn't really give a ****" Act.
Please explain what comments I made are at all threatening. I'm very confused by the concept. Transparency is good. however, veiled threats by a member of Congress is not good. All that information is transparent. That's how it was obtained.
I disagree. Those groups donate money to certain candidates so that they can receive special consideration.
All people who do do it because they want the politician to do what they want. Corporations and special interest groups are just citizens exercising their right to free assembly It's part of the 1st Amendment Bill of Rights "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Citizens United will be overturned when the Dems pack the court, so this is nothing really to worry about.
I've only donated once, $5 back in 2008, dox me if you wish, but I'd prefer if the info is kept private, primarily because the extremists are quite crazy and far too unstable to have the info and they are being encouraged to act upon their outrage by elected democratic party politicians, its a recipe for danger, or at the very least a thrown milkshake. I have a relative that put a Desantis (florida gov) sign in front of his business during the 18 election, he was flooded with multiple bad google reviews immediately (had to hire someone to get them removed) and had multiple angry callers saying he was a racist for supporting the candidate and they threatened to picket his business, so he lied to them and said that a disgruntled employee put the sign up and has been let go, which seemed to satisfy the mob who were obviously organized and coordinated with their attacks, all happened in the span of a few hours. His next step (as an independent) he stopped researching local and state candidates and voted GOP all the way down the ballot, along with 62% of the rest of us I'd like to personally thank the democratic party membership for doing more to convince him to vote Red all day long than I ever could.
If I owned a business, I would not allow political signs of any sort on my property. Not worth the risk to turn off customers. I know I have stopped going to a local vet because they had a huge sign for one of the local candidates.
