Blacks and their children have had from at least 1865 to solve this problem. Again, one does notice this in Europe. Blacks from Africa and their children quickly pick up the region accent when they move to America. I am not black but believe as a youth, I too did not have the CA accent. i never put any thought into this until today but with my parents coming from Oklahoma to CA, them having that OKie accent, surely I had it too. But I believe that as an adult my current accent is about the same as most other CA residents. I know I do not have the accent of the South. i was ripped by a Southerner in 1962 in Georgia and got called a Damned YAnkee by one of them. It was so damned funny.
My country has a growing African migrant population. These are very black black people, mind you. Yet they still don't teach their children to segregate themselves via language. Their kids sound EXACTLY like the lily white or Asian kids they mix with (and yes, they mix with kids from all different backgrounds). The UK has long had a significant West Indian (African) population, and they sound like everyone else in the regions they live in. Black Glaswegians sound like White Glaswegians, etc. This really is a phenomenon only seen in America. And it's deliberate, which is why it's so obnoxious.
Yes, I saw just a few blacks when I was in Berlin who grew up in England so you are right. It is as if they think speaking ebonics pays back Americans for something they believe we did wrong to them prior to 1865.
