Another "shakedown" against a big corporation. America's lawsuit system could be the most dysfunctional in the world.

A federal judge from California is allowing a lawsuit to go forward for $10 billion against McDonald's because allegedly McDonald's "racially discriminated" against black-owned television program networks by not advertising with them. I doubt there is much solid proof of any intentional discrimination.

The lawsuit points out that of approximately $1.6 billion of McDonald’s annual advertising budget, the corporation spends less than approximately $5 million each year on Black-owned media. The suit also claims that it has refused to advertise on Entertainment Studios networks or The Weather Channel since Byron Allen acquired the network in 2018.

These lawsuits are a real drag on the economy. Even if McDonald's wins the lawsuit, they will still probably have to shell over a million out in lawyer fees to have reduced their chances of losing as much as possible. And most likely a corporation like McDonald's will just be afflicted with "white guilt", won't want to be viewed negatively in the media, and will just pay out some settlement money. (Maybe ten or fifteen million, I'm thinking)

Byron Allen Wins Big In Historic Billion Dollar Lawsuit Against McDonalds - Essence

Byron Allen sounds like a black businessman who has ambitions and aspirations for more wealth and sees a lawsuit like this as his opportunity to get big chunk of money. He knows a lot of progressives are reluctant to say no when a black person claims racial injustice and wants a lot of money from a huge corporation. What this lawsuit sounds like is a "shakedown", just trying to get some easy money.

Shame on that judge for even allowing this lawsuit to go forward.

Byron Allen previously filed a lawsuit for $20 billion against Comcast accusing them of racial discrimination, but he finally lost that lawsuit in the Supreme Court after an initial win in an appeals court. Despite Byron Allen losing, Comcast still ended up agreeing to undisclosed settlement terms, presumably being willing to carry channels that Bryon Allen owned.
Comcast is a broadcasting and cable television company.
