How many times do you hear 'truthers' say something like "you actually believe the WTC was destroyed by cave dwellers?" I've heard it a lot and it relies on a racist stereotype of a backwards, uneducated people based solely on their status as Middle Easterners. The main people behind 9-11 were college educated and some of them had a successful history of kicking the Soviets out of Afghanistan. I know ... ignorance and racism go hand in hand.
Most of the leadership of those allegedly involved, have and do live in caves, nothing racist about comments along those lines. You probably don't have any problem aligning yourself with Muslim haters...do you. You all probably sit around and talk about the "religion of peace" from time to time...don't ya
I don't know if it's racism so much as it's the need to make the generally accepted account seem unrealistic by creating a strawman. The generally accepted account is completely confirmed by the known evidence, so to argue against it, 9/11 deniers rely on the logical fallacy of the strawman - they intentionally misrepresent the generally accepted account in order to create something they can argue against.
It's not actually racist... They're not saying all Arabs live in caves.. They are saying the hijackers live in caves.. While not really true, it's only a dig at the hijackers.. It's only racist when the comment is about a particular race, or particular people DUE TO their race, which I've not seen that to be the case.

While I no doubt admit this is certainly well inside the realm of possibility, we don't really know it to be true. It's anybody's guess who organized and planned the whole operation, as nobody has proven it yet with evidence. It is of course a very likely possibility Arabs planned and organized it, however not all Arabs are "third worlders" themselves, perhaps rolling around in oil money and such. Like the Western world, the Arab world has both mass poverty and lavish fortune.
I wasn't implying that all Arabs are 3rd worlders themselves, merely referencing Kipling with regards to where this whole "cave dwellers" nonsense comes from. Many of the 9/11 hijackers (and those "accused" of planning it) are college educated, and didn't grow up in a cave. The cave dwellers opinion is merely an offshoot of all the crazy media fixation on all the caves that were bandied about immediately after 9/11. The media made them look like Dr.Evil's lair, but, in reality, they weren't as kickass as all the newspapers and their full color graphics implied they were. Some of them were pretty extensive though. I believe the complex in Zhawar was one of the more extensive ones (was the site of an infamous battle during the Soviet occupation).
