Long nights get me. It is fairly common for me to have to pull all-nighters before a deadline. They just keep getting harder and harder. And it takes longer to recover. When I was in college I could go all week on only a few hours of sleep a night. No way I can do that now. Two all-nighters in a row and I'm dead for a couple of days.

Supposedly, this will be he last time my 6 day week runs like this.

Yeah, I'm good for at best 4 in a row, before I gotta get off my feet for at least a day....

If the Catholics start allowing priests to marry, who will the altar boys date?

Today a customer said they were going to give me more money without me asking! THAT has never happened in 20 years.

Funny thing about Snoop Dog: He lived across the street from my high school. He was just a little kid then. I had no idea until I saw him discussing his life in an interview, a few years ago. My buddy lived in the same complex. "War". the guys who did the song Low Rider, lived just West of me. And Richard and Karen Carpenter lived not too far East of me. What a mix!

I found out that at one point, I could have ridden my bicycle to Captain Kirk's mobile home, had I known where to go. After Trek was cancelled, he ended up broke, I think because of a divorce, and was living in a trailer park not far from me.

A korean war vet I was speaking with yesterday told me that when the ceasefire went into effect, all the lights came on and the shelling stopped immediately. Some of the guys crossed over to meet the forces on the other side so the Army court-martialed them, which in those days, meant they had to spend an extra 6 months in Korea while everybody else went home.

I remember my grandfather mentioning something like this, RE: WW1, right about Christmas...

He fought for the "Other Guys" though. Take it for what it, but historical accounts back my Grand-Pops.

War is a complicated thing. Especially those wars fought, w/o being declared...

I have always liked cats. Maybe they are sniffing the boundaries of their scat so that they can efficiently bury the scent? I really don't know...Interesting question though. After all, the reason for burying scat is to throw off likely predators or even prey.

Change of pace (we have two indoor cats and one outdoor feral that adopted us):

When Star Trek was on TV...back in the 1960's...one of the most interesting things was the way doors opened when approached.

Now...all these years later...we all deal with doors that open for us.

Walked smack into a door today when it only opened a foot or so.

Really bugged the crap out of me.

Third time something like this has happened in the last few years.

I gotta walk slower. Hell...I'm 80...and I should be walking slower.

It is funny watching the original series now. In some ways, we are ahead of them - in particular in terms of memory. Many young people wouldn't even recognize that Spock's memory cards were science fiction then! Kirk often signed orders on a PC tablet or Kindle. And the communications devices are pretty much on par with real technology today. Even the replicators have a parallel with 3D printers. And in fact scientist are working with nanotechnology that would make real replicators possible. Also, tricorder-like medical devices are emerging today.

We even have a real warp drive theory that was named in honor of Trek - the Alcubierre [warp] drive.

The man who designed the first ion propulsion system for a deep-space probe, was inspired as a child by an ion propulsion system referenced in the original Trek - the one were the rock-tunneling silicon lifeforms were in conflict with the miners. Dammit Jim! I'm a doctor, not a mason!!!

It was a great beginning to something even Roddenberry could not have imagined would happen...as an entertainment vehicle.

I'm glad his ashes made it into space.
