This might depend on what one considers rape of a man. I read a story yesterday about men , military men, going to bars, being drugged and raped. Men are raped in prison. Having a son, would I find it less traumatic for him to be raped as opposed to my daughter? No...both would elicit the same horror.

Are you saying you think the age of consent is too high and it should be lowered? Not sure what you're saying in this post...

I was wondering when someone was going to say something like this to my post. I'm actually surprised it took this long.

Yes, more women are battered, abused etc etc than men. No one disputes that. iirc 1 in 4 women are abused every year. 1 in 9 men are abused in a violent way each year according to the CDC. Both those statistics are from 2013 iirc. Not sure what it is now. And they believe that it is far more less likely for men to report such than women due to social stigma. So yes, women are more abused. They also get a VAST array of more help also.

As for shelters, what do you think some people have been trying to do? It's not easy to open a men's shelter. There are 2 or 3 in the entire US. Getting funding for such is extremely difficult to say the least. There are myriads of ways to get funding for women's shelters, very few for men's shelters. Needless to say, its far easier to SAY "open some shelters" than it is to actually do so.

It wasn't easy for women to open shelters either...but THEY did it...

Did you think women's shelters always existed?

 We're talking about right here, right now. 2019. That is what this thread is about. Today's society. Try to keep up because I'm not going to play your game.

Yes, in today's society if men see a need for men's shelters then they do what has been done before, make shelters....

Which again, is not as easy as it sounds. It will take time to establish those shelters. Simply saying "build them" is to completely dismiss the hurdles that it is going to take to build them. First the stigma that this thread talks about has to be over come. How is this done? By talking about it. By showing the inequalities that society has in place in this day and age. Right now it is perfectly acceptable to bash men. "All Men are predators" was a common refrain that was used just a few years ago. Now a days its "Toxic Masculinity". Men that are abused are laughed at. Men that are abused often don't report abuse because the feeling of embarrassment because of the belief that all men are stronger than women and as such can't be abused and any man that lets it happen are not real men.

Simply saying "build them" dismisses everything that men go through every day. You have to acknowledge that inequalities that exist and then work to right those inequalities before those shelters can be built in any meaningful quantity. Which by the by is exactly how feminists back in the day got today's women's shelters. They addressed the inequalities first and got people to talk about them and finally got people to actually working on solutions. We need to do the same for men's shelters. Simply saying "Build them" is dismissive and does nothing to address what actually needs to be done.

    So? There's your solution !!!!

You have to do the same thing women did!

Yes, contact your congressperson and explain what's neeed...be active, go after it....that's what women had to do...NO one handed them shelters with no effort on their part.

How would you feel if some guy forcibly puts his dick up your ass? That's what I thought we were talking about here. Statutory rape is another thread. Oh, and stop bragging

Someone does that to me they are going to die, and rightfully so.

Man rapes another man in prison it should be an immediate death penalty.

I'm a man, I lean right on economics and left on social issues. I'm equally as offended by rape of men as I am rape of women.

The proper response that a woman should have to her rapist it to hurt him as badly as she possibly can and it's society's responsibility to say good job when she is done.

A considerable portion of society will call her accusation false. And legal considerations, of course, should be more thorough than your demands here. I don't believe in telling people what they should do when their life is in danger.

I don't believe in teaching people to be defenseless or to make them afraid to defend themselves because of legal actions after the fact.

We are way to soft on criminals

When a man is raped by another man, it involves the anus. That is harder on the body than a vaginal rape. Neither are good things.

Uh, excuse me but """ Physiologically speaking, rape of a man is probably more harmful than rape of a woman""" ????? !!!!

Do you care to explain that ?

WHAT !!??? You have got to be joking!!

Do you have ANY idea of what rape is ???

It is a VIOLENT attack, it is not simply "intercourse"...

You think vaginas are tougher ?? WHAT!

PEOPLE are raped vaginally, anally, and orally....WOMEN are raped anally and orally ...and vaginally with violence.

People are raped with penises, baseball bats, broken bottles, knives...they are raped repeatedly with major damage ensuing...

AND, WOMEN have to worry that the rape may produce a pregnancy....something a man NEVER has to experience...

Yes, vaginas are tougher than anuses. I don't deny that both are extremely bad things. I'm not defending rape at all. I'm just saying that anal rape is tougher on the body than vaginal rape.

How common is rape of men outside the walls of prisons anyways?

I always react much stronger to reading a news-story about a young woman being raped than I do to one of a young man being assaulted and mugged. I think this is just a natural, evolutionary thing.

I wasn't talking about the woman being physically violent.

It doesn't matter if she's alert or unconscious or passive....she can still be beaten, burned, knifed, or killed.

She doesn't have to be "small, thin"....all types of women are raped..

It's the RAPIST who is violent and can physically harm her no matter how responsive or unresponsive she is..

"Big , muscular" men are NOT the only men who rape.

Men use threats, guns, knives, baseball bats, broken bottles , when raping...THEY do the violence.

And please check your posts before posting, you have your words in with mine.

Rape of ANYBODY is a great wrong and should be punished harshly, and swiftly. 'Nuff said....
