Why is it an "unnatural" number? Women aren't gay because they play soccer. You can't honestly believe that to be the case. I can't speak to why there are lesbians who play soccer anymore than I can speak to lesbians who play softball or basketball.

Could also just be that that lesbians are less distracted by boys in High School and put more effort into sports. There are many world class gay athletes in many different sports. Men and women. A great number of America's gold medal winning athletes have been gay - Olympic diving, skating, tennis, gymnastics ...

Gay students are often less socially active because they are made fun of at an early age and they tend to become very focused on their sport. If you read biographies about world class gay athletes, you find this to be a very familiar theme.

Pure partisanship. These two didn't include Trump. But the 2017 Morning Consult did. Trump was the fifth best and the worst, Obama the second best and the second worst. All at the same time. 2018 Quinnipiac had Trump still the fifth best and the worst, Obama the second best and second worst. These polls back up the fact that if one is a Republican, Trump goes to being one of the best, Obama the worst. If one is a Democrats, Trump is the worst, Obama the best.

I could go into favorable/unfavorable ratings also. Democrats gave Obama an average of 90% favorable, Republicans gave him an average of 12% favorable. Democrats give Trump an average of 8% favorable, Republicans give Trump an average of 88% favorable. You can see the party line divide plainly, the partisan divide.

As for athletics, I view none as being patriotic. They're not putting their life on the line for their country, they're doing nothing to benefit the country outside of perhaps a feel good moment for some. I get that same feel good moment when the Braves win. Nothing patriotic about the Braves either.

 

Most Americans have disapproved of Trump, consistently and relentlessly, since most voters cast their ballots against him in 2016.

Obama was twice elected with over 51% of the popular vote, the first to achieve that distinction since Eisenhower, and he completed his tenure with 60% approval.

Whether Trump can approach that level of public support remains to be seen.

The portents are not auspicious.

“I would like to see that,” Trump told reporters at Morristown Airport after spending the weekend at his Bedminster golf club. “And you also have to look at numbers because, when you look at World Cup soccer, that’s one thing, and you also have to look at soccer professionals out there. You have to see who’s taking in what.”
