Reforming the GRC system of elections is long overdue in Singapore Minority representation can still be maintained with minority NCMP (top losing minority candidates (regardless of party) get to sit and vote in parliament according to current NCMP scheme except that their quota is based upon minimum racial demographics so all races are fairly and adequately represented in parliament. (More minorities will actively participate in elections because they get the real chance to represent their minority group (rather than taking the blame for supporting the GRC system whose real purpose is as a PAP back door to crowd out parliament with (conscienceless) PAP mouthpieces as well as to avoid by-elections since never ever has a by-election been held due to one lone MP resigning/dying etc (all must die/resign) (only once in a blue moon does a by-election happen only because the resigning/ deserting MP seat was a single seat one)): 'Without some assurance of a good chance of winning at least their first election, many able and successful young Singaporeans may not risk their careers to join politics,' Mr Goh Chok Tong, June 2006 ['GRCs make it easier to find top talent: SM']. [Pict= Disassembling GRC system benefits PAP (Part 1 of 3)] Also NMP scheme (like USA senator posts) are not based upon population size but on racial/ religious basis, thus MUIS, Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Buddhist, Taoist, Hindu, freethinkers / atheist etc can each contribute one NMP to parliament (total 8 (half Abrahamic, half non, or other approprate classification method)) and Singapore can completely retire the GRC system of elections which is so infected by gerrymandering/ unnecessary over-sized district geographic bundling swe all know is the PAP's main crutch/ the goal-post shifting to suite the PAP preferences to sock-puppets and yes men/ seat warmers PAP MPs to monopolize/abuse the entire parliamentary seat system (like a malignant cancer) to crowd out genuine discussion by crowding out the opposition or even any genuine race/ religion based representations/ discussions (vz the use of token minority candidates to decorate outsized GRC proportions (6member GRC with only 1 minority)).
