I worked for years as a program director at a refugee resettlement agency. I developed, oversaw, managed, and taught in programs for refugees resettling in the US. It was difficult and all-consuming work, but highly rewarding. A lot of folks come to the US with skills that are directly applicable to our economic circumstances, and those who don't come with a remarkable motivation to contribute and provide.

Refugees and legitimate asylum seekers should not be lumped in with people just making a run at the border.
