Far Northern IL - Last month, I requested an absentee ballot for the upcoming election. I went to check on it today and received a message that I'm not registered to vote. I know that I am but went through the process a total of EIGHT times today and the form won't submit. I'm hoping this is just a computer glitch but it's frustrating.

A couple weeks ago, we couldn't send out any mail that required a transaction because the USPS computers were down.

Have you had any obstacles in trying to register or send out mail in your area?

Try registering as a Democrat. They'll send you two ballots.

How many more times is this going to play out across the country?

But thanks for reaffirming that unless 100% of voters vote for Trump we will be hear screams of “it was rigged”

I'm gonna laugh when Justice Barrett is the deciding vote to throw out millions of fraudulent mail-in ballots.

You haven't heard about the "Red Mirage"? The scenario where Trump wins in a landslide only to see Biden flip one state after another until Biden finds 270 electors counting mail-in ballots in the weeks that follow election day?

Hey good luck counting those mail-in ballots while Democrat mobs are burning your cities down because of Trump's election night landslide.

    :)

I don't think I've ever had to re-register except for moving to a new address. As long as you vote in major elections in Texas, your registration stays current.

The mail is a mess though. I get mail that's not mine all the time here. Same thing happens at work, and occasionally I'll miss paying one of my boss's bills because our bill never showed up in our mailbox and never got forwarded. Don't know if that's just the postal workers in the area here and in the other town where I work or systemic.

Oh my! Don't give them any ideas. Antifa is an anarchist/communist organization. They hate the government and really do want to "burn it all down". Burning ballots or voting offices where ballots are delivered would just be the icing on a very long and surreal 2020, wouldn't it.

I know huh? Like, I wouldn't want Antifa to burn post offices and torch mail drop boxes in the days before the election and then have them try to blame those nasty white supremacists and NAZIS!? I don’t want to say that and give them any ideas.

I am not sure what is happening but I've re-registered several times now.

#1 - Mid 2018 - renewed my DL (new address)
    #2 - Mid 2020 - mailed in signed form
    #3-11 - Today - E-form (none will submit)

I contacted the webmaster and will report once I get a response.

I've NEVER had this much trouble registering in the past. I am concerned about my elderly neighbors who are not tech savvy. I can't imagine trying to resolve this without a computer, wi-fi and/or smart phone.

I once moved a block away and they wouldn't let me vote. They said I was in a different precinct. There was no difference in the ballot from one precinct to the other. California. I think they knew I was republican and just wanted to prevent me from voting.

Does your state make you register every election (or year or two)? I'd think if you voted in the 2020 midterms you should still be registered no matter what state you're in, unless your address changed in between.

I'm honestly not sure. I was out-of-state for almost 8 years prior to moving back to IL. This was not an issue prior to that because I was always registered at the same address and involved. I re-registered in 2018 when I had to renew my DL (in a different county). I didn't vote mid-term so I didn't realize there was an issue until recently. I'm going to give it a few more days and then follow up. I hope this is just a computer glitch.

Probably just a glitch. Good thing you're seeing it with plenty of time to get things straightened out. Imagine finding out some problem at the last minute! :cynic:

Me too. They added over a week of early voting days here, but otherwise didn't change the rules required to qualify for mail-in voting. You have to be at least 65, or physically disabled, or out of the county traveling on election day to qualify for an absentee ballot.

You know what, I laughed when I saw a letter sent to me suggesting I was not registered to vote, I have voted in every election since 1976. Now I wonder if the other party that will not be named but are socialists, have found a way to purge conservative voters, I will now double check that tomorrow. I put nothing past the party that will not be named but would actually pick a prostitute for vp.

The other day my boss said he received a postcard in the mail asking him if he wanted a mail-in ballot. I though that was weird since there are only 3 reasons in Texas to qualify for absentee voting. Yesterday I asked him for more details about the postcard.

    He said:
It looked like it was officially from the US Post Office.
He said it asked if he wanted to vote by mail, and how many ballots he wanted.
Return postage was prepaid, but he didn't pay attention to the address.

He said he immediately threw it away after I said I'd like to see it. It sounds like a total scam and that the State Attorney General's Office should see the physical mail piece.

UPDATE: I continued to try to register - at least 20 times. It finally went through about two hours ago.

I hope other people are able to register and get their vote counted.

I hope others that received them kept them for reporting. That's outrageous.

My boss is "sure" that the mailer looked like it was created and sent directly by the Post Office. I'm "sure" that is was not. The Post Office wouldn't be creating mass mailers to send to citizens. I wish he hadn't thrown it away.

Well, he wasn't interested in mail-in so he threw the card away without "inspecting" it more thoroughly. He's a stickler for voting in person on election day, even if he has to stand in line for hours. He doesn't even like early voting much less mail-in. When he mentioned it to me, he was just mad saying that "The Post Office is spending money to encourage mail in ballots." A few days later I brought the subject back up for more details because it didn't sound right.

Anyway, there is a problem if there is a mass mailer that "looks official" enough for my boss to think it was produced and mailed from USPS, especially if they are asking how many ballots people want. I'm sure if that is the case, then at least a few people will notify the A.G.'s office.
