The fact is that war generally has economic roots. Religion or ethics are generally brought out to justify brutality.
Yes because the religious posters on this forum seem to be primarily if not solely Christians. Why try to educate members of other religions if they are not on this forum?
We were discussing war not brutality but nice try at shifting the focus. When you find a was that isn't brutal do let us know. But what were the economic roots of the crusades or the India/ Pakistan mess.
Exactly. War is brutal. I would have thought the reasonably intelligent among us would have drawn the conclusion that I was drawing a parallel, but thank you for pointing out that not everyone can keep up. Crusades: the Mideast was on the trade routes between the Orient and the West. Europe had many noble younger sons to provide for and diminishing prospects for them. India/Pakistan: I note they are not currently shooting at each other. Must mean that they each have nothing the other wants. Hostility is not the same thing as war.
