They are trying to make up for denying people the fruits of their labor by denying people the fruits of their labor.

Steve, you and I may not agree on a lot, but we do on this one. This is the most ridiculous thing i have seen in all my years.

They could write a book on dumb ****, and start with this one:
"How to make an entire political party irrelevant for the next 50 years"
    BY THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

I don't think anyone who was never a victim should be compensated by anyone who never victimized them. But any reparations, and it should never happen, but any reparations should be in the form of a tax deduction.

no only Germany was responsible for the reparations and that was established in 1951 6 years After the end of the war
would you make families be responsible for reparations that had family members die in the civil war fighting to free the slaves?
wouldn't that be a slap in the face?

I didn't say anything about slaves, I have been speaking of folks who suffered under Jim Crow. Are any of those folks still alive today?

I don't think anybody deserves any monetary reparations for such a thing.

What am I losing, my point is that black suffering in America didn't stop after slavery.

Is every group of Americans who have suffered one way or another in the hands of the American government deserves reparations?

You right wingers weren't whining about it when Reagan gave it to Japanese-Americans in 1988.

Well the black suffering in Africa continues today, so this is not a American Problem.

Let me ask you.... In what country have the black race done better in than America?

Talentless rappers making zillions & athletes like Michael Jordan & Antonio Brown, & comedians like Chris Rock.

    Nothing held them back.

I see other races come into this country.
They work hard & work many hours to get ahead. You go to any SevenEleven & chances are it is owned by someone from China or India. They probably work 80 hours a week & the probably also have family members working at the store.

I have never seen a convenient store or gas station run & owned by blacks.

Much easier getting a check monthly for doing nothing.

I certainly respect your opinion and just have 2 questions: What would be the desired outcome? What is the likely outcome if this should pass?

Who exactly do you want to be compensated? How much and what for? Should these who sat at the back of the bus be compensated? Should black millionaire sportsmen and artists be compensated for just being black or only the poor black folks? What be the criteria? I’m genuinely interested in your ideas. How would you decide who’s eligible and who would not be, or are you gonna give every black person some sum of money?

Great questions. Do mixed races get partial reparations? If someone is half white, does that cancel itself out?

Legal president set in Europe, if not for that country America wouldn't have this blemish in our history :) If anyone is liable for slavery its the Dutch and the English that took full use of the culture while colonizing America.. When you finally wake up, tax all the British slavers and pay these poor black that you and the Dutch brought to America and abused :)

I don’t mind reparations if they come with a 1-way ticket to west Africa and mandatory evacuation among with revocation of the US citizenship.
I wonder how many American blacks would claim it?

Ok so what does that have to do with what we are talking about?

Maybe I am missing your point.

Ok so what does any of that have to do with the injustices that black folks have suffered in America.

It means that they are living in America today. It appears that you and millions like you have a fetish for the past when blacks were actually victimized. Yea those people (NOT YOU) suffered and it was wrong.

You don't get to be a victim just because your ancestors were victims. I deny any kind of victim hood status for any minority in America. None of them are victims of systemic oppression in America in 2019. To imply that they are is a moral outrage against those who suffered real systemic oppression in the past. You want to fight a battle that you have already won. You are tilting at windmills and generating real hatred for blacks and real hatred for whites in the process. Just stop it.

It would have to be studied like anything else.

So you think Jim Crow was just about sitting at the back of the bus.

Again it would have to be a study conducted on the subject.

Now you are just showing your ignorance. Also for your information I grew up at the backend of Jim Crow.

You have a right to your opinion, how many Japanese Americans who suffered through being put in concentration camps during WWII do you believe were still living in 1988?

I don't know about the Japanese descendants who weren't hamstrung, like slaves until Dredd -Scott. But I do know that the adaptation of affirmative action was meant to compensate for the inequities of Jim Crow era policies. That's 3 generations of reparations isn't it?

AA was to stop the racist practices that were going on, how in the hell would AA be a form of reparations for Jim Croe when white women are the biggest beneficiaries of it.

For the record, this is what America is like in 2019. This was my son (with the top hat) going to Prom a few weeks ago with his closest friends. Two blacks, a latino, a native American, a Pakistani Muslim and a Jew. All upper middle class, no oppression points awarded at all.... Prom.jpg
