I can roll with this. A national day of remembrance would work too.

Nobody disagrees that slavery and what followed with Jim Crow was absolutely despicable and disgusting violations of liberty and self-ownership. It is therefore well in place to suggest slave-owners pay their slaves reparations. The obvious problem, however, is that they are all dead.

Government did very much support slavery and segregation so shouldn't government pay reparations to blacks? Government is still alive so surely there is no problem, right? Well, the problem is that government has no resources and in order to gain resources they have to confiscate them from it's citizens.

In other words reparations for slavery is dependent on slavery; only by enslaving whites (who maybe are not even descendants of slave-owners) and force them to pay the blacks lol.

Obviously this is just another government hoax to broaden their power and gain more resources by inflicting new taxes.

The greatest reparation for slavery has already been paid and that is the abolition of it.

It's also a great way for manufactured racial tension to be increased, widening division.

That is fine if the economy expanded and produced more wealth but when they simply print money then the value of the money supply declines as inflation negates the new money.

Which if the company is expanding and growing in wealth is good business sense and can in fact increase the share value of the existing shares as the price is bid upward. But if the company is not growing and it dilutes the share value and the shareholders are not given offsetting shares they can get really really mad and vote in a new board.

It wasn't at the time it existed here. Do you know what ex post facto is and the constitutional protection against it?

yes and if the rich hoard all the money and do not spend, there is less in circulation and people of a county can revolt unless more is printed, it's complicated

if all the rich all of sudden started spending, we could then have "too much" money in the economy at a certain point

I can not speak for African Americans. My great grandparents got Reparations from Russian Nobles following the 1917 Revolution. My Jewish ancestors were de facto slaves in 1828-1858 -- some of them were Cantonist soldiers and had to serve 31 years. Some Russian peasants were serfs in 1609 -- 1861 -- they also got Reparations in 1918.

That is scary -- some people in Russia think that Jews should pay reparations to Russia for their disproportionate role in Revolutions of 1917 and 1991.
