I found this to be very telling. I know anti gunners and reporters for local news rags have tried at every gun show in the Twin Cities to make an illegal purchase. They fail every time.

"A Government Accountability Office (GAO) report shows federal agents tried to show ease of illegally purchasing guns online only to fail in 72 out of 72 attempts."

So claims the NRA. Real examples of online sellers caught on tape agreeing to engage in illegal gun sales:

62% of online sellers were willing to commit a felony.

Since you must not have the slightest interest in real research. I followed the links in the article. I got the GAO report. (see link).

    https://www.gao.gov/assets/690/688535.pdf

    Here is a relevant quote:

This shows that only 2/7 (29%) of attempts to buy a gun over the Dark Web worked. 0/72 (0%) of attempts to buy a gun on the open internet worked.

I hate it when the federal government slays an anti-gun boogeyman.

29 sellers didn't want to ship the firearm. 27 didn't want to sell a firearm to someone who had a criminal record. 11 were scammers (they were willing to accept payment but didn't intend to ship any firearm). In 5 cases no transaction was completed because the website administrators intervened.

If the undercover agents had been willing to meet the sellers to pick up the firearms then many transactions would have likely been completed.

Because of people such as yourself, unwilling to honestly discuss the issue.

    So claims the NRA.

    [
. Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren demanded the probe in the aftermath of mass shootings and the investigative arm of Congress, the Government Accountability Office (GAO), conducted a lengthy covert operation to try to purchase firearms illegally from internet dealers.

I guess you missed the headline..... it was about shipping of ONLINE sales.

The point was, it wasn’t as easy to illegally purchase guns on the web as some would have us believe.

Yeah but his point is valid. Armslist makes that unnecessary

explain, I don't think you understand how it works

if the transaction involves citizens of two different states, the deal has to go through a licensed dealer

So by online you're excluding transactions which are facilitated by the internet but completed in person? Regardless, the study doesn't tell us much about how easy it would be for a real criminal to purchase guns online. A real criminal would probably not volunteer that he had a criminal record to the seller.

It is so easy. Just check the box marked private sale. A murderer can have a gun in a few hours

Yup. The private sale loophole definitely does exist.

that is not an accurate comment. that's like saying there is a CDL loophole for mothers who drive neighbors kids to school with only a normal driver's license

how is it a loophole when the government neither intended nor has the jurisdiction over intra-state private sales?

The public and experts disagree with you.

"Our expert survey asked dozens of social scientists, lawyers and public health officials how effective each of 29 policies would be in reducing firearm homicide deaths, regardless of their political feasibility or cost....

"Requiring all sellers to run background checks on anyone who buys a gun."
    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive...aths-The-Views-of-Experts-and-the-Public.html

That was the number one policy recommendation of experts on how to reduce gun murders. 86% of the public polled agreed with the policy.

Studies that have been posted on here many times, with interviews of prisoners convicted of gun crimes, demonstrate that felons don’t buy from people they don’t know.

And how is that enforced? What stops two criminals or acquaintances from transferring a gun in private?
