Anyone interested in understanding the proposed Republican tax plan and who actually benefits should take the time to read the analysis from the non partisan Tax Policy Center. Hint the overwhelming benefit goes to the top quintile while raising the national debt by three plus trillion dollars for the first ten years and almost double that for the next ten. http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/publications/analysis-house-gop-tax-plan/full
Interesting, but that's the 2016 plan analysis. How does that measure up against the one they're putting together this year?
My mistake. The latest is on the Tax polict Center webpage. Some of the details change and will indoubtedly change again but it is still a plan that really only benefits the wealthy while raising the national debt. To put it a bit cynically it is an income redistribution plan where the income is transferred ffom the nation to the top 1%. The full analysis is here http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/publications/analysis-house-gop-tax-plan-0/full
Pretty telling that not one Republican tout is willing to defend the plan. Or maybe the need to actually read anything of substance is too much of a brain strain.
Probably not since the actuality of the plan has to be obvious even to Trump defenders. And you might want to look up the meaning of trolling.
Anyone notice how neither party is the party of responsible spending? Seems like they both want to spend more than they should, kicking the can down the road and hoping the other side will have to pick up the tab sometime in the future. It's the same reason they can't save any money in a rainy day fund. Because "if I don't spend the money now on what I want, he'll just spend the money on what he wants" mentality. Maybe if they formed two separate Treasuries, one for the Republicans when they're in power and one for the Democrats, there would be more of an incentive to save.
The problem with your reasoning is that the bottom 50% don't pay any taxes now so there's no way a tax plan can benefit them.
Good, they should have their rates reduced. Nobody should pay a higher rate than anyone else. We all have equal vote, we should pay equal rate
I would support a flat 10% peacetime tax rate, maybe a flat 15% rate if fighting an undeclared war, and a 20% or higher, depending on the needs of our military when fighting a war declared by Congress, gradually reduced back to the flat 10% as the costs of war have been repaid. No work, no pay, in my opinion produces the greatest incentive to find a job, allowing working individuals to contribute as they see needed to those who are experiencing difficulty in providing for their needs.
no it isn't. they of course pay a whole slew of taxes. They may not pay FEDERAL INCOME taxes, but they most certainly do pay taxes.
Considering this thread is about federal income taxes, the VAT taxes they pay from European manufactured goods really have no bearing. Let's try to stick with the topic and stop adding things to it to try to score a point. But thank you for confirming the fact that half of American workers pay no taxes.
but this bolded statement is incorrect. They may pay no FEDERAL income taxes, but they do pay taxes. Just have to be careful how you word it.
We may all have an equal vote but we certainly do not have equal influence on the political system. Perfectly fine for the victims to try and make the winners pay the bill. There is a reason that more and more of the wealth of America flows to the top.
Funny how most every problem issue seems to be rooted in the year 1913. I agree totally that the founders produced the fairest possible tax system to fund our Republican form of governments at the Federal level.
