And their policies claim to pursue and preserve freedoms by eliminating regulations. Great idea?

Here's one of the examples of the consequences of such policies: That Florida apartment building collapsed and killed probably more than 130 people as a direct result.

A law requiring inspections of such buildings every five years was passed after being submitted by a Democrat. Just two years later claims were made that the inspections, which would have saved building owners many, many dollars by catching and repairing deterioration and damage early, would cost developers and real estate moguls too much money, so a REPUBLICAN, former state Rep. Gary Aubuchon, sponsored a repeal of that law. (STORY)

Now it has been said that the repealed law would have caught the growing problems in that now-collapsed building and the collapse would not have happened. BUT, we must admit, the Republicans succeeded in preserving the freedoms of real estate moguls.

A week ago I saw a story where the condo knew they needed to make repairs and held off because it would have cost $80,000 per unit. I also saw where the condo’s management emailed the city requesting something about the repairs and never received a response back.

lots of blame to go around.

The problems were identified in 2018. The owners did nothing about it.

yep lack of regulations can have consequences? Bush did not want the regulations....

    https://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/21/business/worldbusiness/21iht-admin.4.18853088.html

"From his earliest days in office, Bush paired his belief that Americans do best when they own their own homes with his conviction that markets do best when left alone. Bush pushed hard to expand home ownership, especially among minority groups, an initiative that dovetailed with both his ambition to expand Republican appeal and the business interests of some of his biggest donors. But his housing policies and hands-off approach to regulation encouraged lax lending standards."

Yup, the right is big on rights, like the right to drink water and eat a snack while waiting in line to vote. Then there are our rights to vote at all. Republicans are becoming more and more brazen in their statements of their intentions to end voter choices by election and replace that right with Republican appointments of politicians. They're big on rights. Yup. The right to know what actually happened on 1/6? Are they interested in that? Big on rights. Yup.

FINALLY!!!!! some in the media are now clearly saying the Republicans are introducing fascism bit by bit.

Like everything else in life, for regulations, there are some that are good and some that are bad. Any blanket rejection of regulations is short-sighted and reflects very immature thinking.

Having lived, for a time, in a country big on regulation, my eyes were wide open upon returning back home. It seems the rights of business owners are valued over the health and wellbeing of regular citizens here. Talk about people voting against their own best interest!!!!

Sadly, this appears to be the case. I am not sure if the ones introducing fascism are republicans, however they are most definitely Trump loyalists responding to his enthralled base of support.

Hey now that's a lie. Fascism is on the Democrats attempting to shut down free speech via private social media. It's also obvious that Democrats support destruction of cities through violence from BLM and the Antifa fascists and communists. Then, there is the Democrat supporters in the media who trash the country attempting to fascistically overturn the Constitution and our basic rights.

There's no proof regulations would have prevented the collapse of the apartment (condo) building. The owners still have to comply. In this case, it looks like the tenants that were owners would have had to fix the building at a tune of about $80,000 a condo. Many of the owners would not have had the money to get it done.

board members, lovingly called Condo Commandos in the SF community are predominately self serving narcissists that actively dissuade even owners from attending meetings, edit meeting minutes and take kickbacks from subcontractors doing maintenance, cleaning, landscaping and necessary repairs or upgrades in the building ... if they didn't know/understand the 2018 report, that is on them as they, unless self managed, have a property management company with the resources (engineers, accountants, gov expediters etc) to help them through the process ... nobody wants to be saddled with an $80,000 assessment ... from experience, I blame the condo board ...

I'm sure the vast majority of democrats don't support anything you describe ... broad brush much? ... you do know that extremists exist on both of sides of your clearly delineated line right? ... no, of course you don't because of damn near everything I have read of yours, everything in your world is either black or white ... no shades of gray ... just an odd way to view the world ...

Non-existent issues? So you say Georgia didn't pass a new election law prohibiting anyone from giving water or food to voters in line? Or are you saying that red states are not passing new election laws by the hundreds putting obstacles before voters?

Of course they didn't. Election monitors certainly can. Partisan groups can even hand out water outside of the legal boundary. They can bring their own water. They outlawed electioneering by partisan groups using water as a reason to approach voters inside the limits specified.

You seem to think reversing what democrats sued to change election laws, often illegally, to be some kind of obstacle to voting when no voting obstacles existed before democrats massive push to make voting less secure.

Yeah, it was $80,000 because the 2008 law requiring inspections every 5 years was eliminated in 2010, so the problems that would have cost far less GREW over the years to $80,000. And that law would have prevented this current disaster.

    Hey! *wave*

Republicans support cult worship and mass murder. And child molestation, stealing, lying, fornicating, racism, poisoning, and free BDSM. Sorry, you lose.

This is absolutely disgraceful; Using a tragedy such as this to score political points is contemptible.

If they don't support this, then why did they vote Biden and the Democrats into power in the Congress? No, you are wrong. Of course, we know that the Presidency and Congress were stolen through election fraud by Democrats.
