And he was right. Forced bussing made my life a nightmare. The schools just bussed in the gangs and drug dealers. It destroyed my neighborhood and ended my high school education until we moved. And Biden was right about trump. Trump wanted to kill a bunch of black guys just because they were black. He didn't care about the evidence.

I fully understand the sarcasm, but Republicans haven't been the party of "family values" since the @ 1960's....

I haven't been following this baby formula deal, but I understand this administration is addressing the issue, so that's good...

I wouldn't have had any confidence the previous administration would have cared or tried...

 

It's not that they may not be critical thinkers. It's that they think of "them" as "inferior" so their lives aren't as important. Remember the hoopla about Ashli Babbitt? The same people rationalized cops killing black and brown people for doing less than what lead to her being shot. They are wringing their hands because fewer white babies are being born each year and I ask (and always get ignored) why does that matter if everyone is equal?

The answer is what they claim doesn't even exist (unless it's Trump whining about one attorney in his criminal case).

I have a horrible suspicion, based on what has already been said on this thread, that they would have kept the contaminated factory open and operating after all what is a few dead babies when profits are on the line…..

 

I do not characterize Biden as being racist. The reason is simple. When people think of racism, they point to these kinds of statements. They get stuck on the "impolite" nature of saying such things aloud but completely overlook the fact that this is not what racism is. Sure, he's a bonehead for saying these things aloud but real racism is very quiet, insidious, systemic, multi-tiered. I've done advocacy work my whole life and I know for a fact, have witnessed, heard and investigated things that most people wouldn't dream were possible.

And, I'm not trying to convince you of anything or anybody else. The fact that it's so quiet is exactly what makes it so ingrained and effective.

eta: This is also the point I was trying to make about the "grooming" arguments that are being thrown around. It's dangerous and actually puts more kids at risk.

It is not (NOT) the responsibility of American taxpayers to feed any (ANY) 'migrants' or their offspring -- period!

We badly need to declare a moratorium on immigration into the United States for at least the next five years so that we can straighten out the horrific mess we already have with illegal aliens and 'asylum-scammers'.

 

It reminds me of a terribly racist joke from the 1970s about two babies dying and going to heaven, a black baby and a white baby. St Peter looks at the two babies and says “Well you will both get wings - you” he says pointing at the white baby “will be a cherub” and the little black baby speaks up and asks “will I be a cherub too” “no” replies St Peter looking sad “You are going to be a fruit bat”

I have remembered that “joke” not just for its racism but what it says about our expectations of people, skin colour and expected roles in life. When was the last time you saw a cherub depicted as anything but a curly golden haired white baby? It is these memes that have somehow cemented into the unconscious the idea of “us” and “them” and somehow “we” deserve more than “them”

Actually it is your responsibility. On a very basic oevel they are guests in your land. If someone came onto your property who was starving and passing out from thirst would you turn them away or be a Good Samaritan

It depends... but first I'd probably call the police. Remember -- if you provide anyone with anything they put in their bodies, YOU can be held liable in a lawsuit! The cops can be at your property quickly, pick up the trespasser, give him water or whatever, and everybody's happy....

And quite frankly if I were the FDA they would not be reopening at all. Some of this is a long time protective marketing. Companies lobby to have “protections” that narrows the market to only a few players and no overseas imports. I mean Australia has some of THE strictest guides on baby formula in the world which is why we have Chinese black marketeers shopping here and selling to China. But apparently the Biden administration will be looking at opening some buy in from overseas

 

How is that different from an illegal immigrant?
