A wealthy Democratic donor club plotting the future of the liberal movement hopes to be fighting for reparations by 2022, according to a document obtained by the Washington Free Beacon from the Democracy Alliance's spring conference this week in Atlanta.

The desire was stated in the invitation for a Monday reception during the annual spring gathering, which was attended by top Democratic Party officials such as DNC chairman Tom Perez, former Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe, and Reps. Raul Grijalva (Ariz.) and Mark Pocan (Wis.).

The reception, "Way to Win: 2022 Victory Party," was presented as a look forward at what's possible if Democrats can be effective in coming elections.

"It's 2022 and we are celebrating policy victories across the nation: Medicare for All and Free College, and next on the agenda is Reparations," the group projected, according to an invitation to the event.

They scoff and play games with semantics, but they're freaking commies, these 'progressives'. it's undeniable.

 

Reparations is the other shoe I've been waiting to drop for a long time. I fully expected that Hillary would pull that card in 2016 to boost black turnout, but for some reason she seemed to think/feel/dream that she was so far ahead she didn't need to.

I just wish the Dems would go ahead and pull the trigger and run on all of this stuff now. Let's get everything on the table.

To be fair and accurate, free healthcare isn't free as you say to most people, but that is assuming that most americans are not driven into poverty at some point given our slave labor economic model. Medicare, once you are eligible for it now, will cost you a deduction from your social security check. So it isn't free and you also pay some money into that fund during your working life. So, it is not free but a single payer program. Plus, most people if they can afford it buy other insurance to take up the slack on what medicare will not pay.

Yep, including college as a part of a public education is what sanders wanted to do, financing it by a small tax on wall street transactions. And I agree with him given that a high school education is not enough in today's economy. And the more americans that are educated, the better. Sanders program applied only to state universities, and we have some good ones. And getting rid of this outrageous college debt that is like a house payment for decades, which keeps people from buying homes. The college debt takes the place of a house payment. But if we ever get this kind of program, they need to cover tech schools where americans learn a trade, and we are in dire need of more going into these fields.

So being an FDR kinda guy, yes, I agree with the dems on this, although one wonders about the details and how they will finance the education. Sanders had a great idea on how to do it. You would need only a fraction of a percent in taxes on transactions to finance it.

Reparations is something that I do not agree with. That crap happened long ago, and no one is left alive to receive them. To pay reparations to the existing black population for something they never suffered under is just nonsense, IMO. We also gonna pay mexicans for the land we stole from them? Where does it end. How about the chinese who built our railroad? Pay them too? How about the japanese americans put into camps during ww2 to lessen the threat of sabotage? You gonna pay them too? Lots of other immigrants like the irish and italians were discriminated against and treated cruelly. Do they get a cash payout too? Again, where does it end? Of course I would imagine black turnout for such an election where that was a part of the democratic platform would be record setting! For what person would not go and vote themselves a lump sum of cash?

Getting VA benefits for college really changed my life. And the boost it eventually gave to our economy and living standards for our own people, is unquestionable. It is the best spent money that a nation can spend, IMO. An education in these times we live in should not be a luxury. And it should not put you in debt for decades replacing a house payment. The bankers sure do love it though. But it also appears to be a bubble which will burst at some point. Our economy is like a container of soap, as it only seems to emit bubbles which burst sooner or later.

 

"progs" cant win in an honest election, and they cant win running on their actual agenda. So they buy votes.

 

Hopefully they give California back to Mexico.

 

Serious question, how would reparations work?

Do us citizens that arrived after slavery have to pay or does it just apply to all taxpayers?
Do all blacks receive reparations or only those that were “generationally effected”?
Do we ignore that the family’s/tribes of the slaves brought here were enriched by the purchase?


Does the DNC really think this is a good idea? I mean they have a goldmine with Trump and they seem to want to hand him reelection...

 

Examine the source. The Republican lies as to what Dems want are beginning.

 

A just system of reparations would require people to prove via records, that they are descended from American slavery. You have to exclude people of African descent who immigrated here after, and what ever the reparation prize is, it would have to be prorated for mixed descendants. For example, Obama's kids would be eligible for only half of whatever reparations there are, since they are only descended from American slaves on their mother's side.

Then of course, who in the family gets it? You have a grandfather, a father, and a son (grandson) all alive, who gets the reparations? The youngest generation or the oldest?

So you can see that after the Civil Rights groups get through this, it will degenerate into "every black person gets money." I welcome the Democrats pushing their new civil rights initiative!

 

Oh I highly doubt that's everything they have planned.

Christians in concentration camps are somewhere on that list also.

If a Democrat tells you they are against reparations do not believe them because they are simply Sarah mccaskilling you. They say moderate things like they oppose reparations to fool old people but behind the scenes work to build support for reparations.

"Everything for free" has always been a popular campaign platform for people lacking integrity. It appeals to the weak, the dependent, the gullible, the easy to manipulate people, who unfortunately also vote. No politician really wants to give these people free things, but they do want to control them in order to gain and hold power over not only those people but everybody.

Once weak people find they can vote themselves free stuff in exchange for giving up freedom that was given to them (and thus not appreciated) they are prisoners, no longer having any power over their own lives. Great countries are kind of like brick homes. You can't substitute block of mud for bricks and have a house that stands.
