Firstly, the correct name of the ship on which Israel massacred 34 American G.I.s & even strafed the life rafts was the USS Liberty not the USS Pueblo.
So much for the "idiocy" of my Post.

Secondly, the USS Liberty was the most advanced intelligence gathering ship in the world at the time and if you think that there was just "compensation" for such a malevolent act of murderous betrayal, you're in the wrong country.

The premeditated & deliberate massacre of 34 American G.I.s & subsequent cover up exemplifies the toxic influence of Israel's parasitic lobbies & complicit US MSM.

Thirdly, America's one sided alliance with Israel has cost America countless $Trillions(1), (2) & thousands of American lives for Israel's insatiable security, regional hegemony & Occupation needs.
The $3 Trillion figure cited below is in 2002 dollars, do not include subsequent years' aid or the recent $38 Billion in "special" military aid.

Finally, if you'd been to any of America's underfunded & under staffed V.A. hospitals lately, you wouldn't bee so eager to fund Israeli aggression & Occupation until we "...dry up and blow away."

Netanyahu: “Once we squeeze all we can out of the United States, it can dry up and blow away”

The Real Cost of US Support for Israel: $3 Trillion”

EXCERPT “While it is commonly reported that Israel officially receives some $3

billion every year in the form of economic aid from the U.S. government,

this figure is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many billions of

dollars more in hidden costs and economic losses lurking beneath the

surface. A recently published economic analysis has concluded that U.S.

trillion ($3 million millions) in 2002 dollars. “CONTINUED

How could the attack on the U.S.S. Liberty be "premeditated" given the Israelis did not even use the proper anti ship weapons against it and broke off their attack leaving a huge number of witnesses and massive amounts of physical evidence? That makes no sense whatsoever.

The "strafed the life rafts" has never been confirmed by any independent source.

Sometimes sticking your poncho up on a fresh cut sapling works. I wonder if sticking the airliner up there worked?

I'm not suggesting anything. I'm just saying that statements such as yours should either include proof for the premise, or one of the words "probably", "likely", "maybe".

I was the one who used the term evil? Are you sure?

If you want to play accuser, judge, and executioner, you better remember what you claim, and bring proof for your allegations. Just sayin'.

    https://www.rt.com/news/447423-israel-strike-syria-civilian-planes/

The words "to prevent a tragedy" are a direct quote. Please don't try to twist it, it's quite clear from the context and the rest of the article that it describes the statement of Russia's Defense Ministry. The article explicitly says so.

    Here's another source:
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/...syria.../6c9913ee-0909-11e9-8942-0ef442e59094_s...

Please explain how can fighter planes use other planes as cover. We can't possibly continue this conversation unless we both know what we're talking about and we're both talking about the same thing.

International law stating that sovereign nations can't fly war planes into another sovereign nation during war. Israel and Syria are in a state of war since 1948.

    Yes I am sure!
And I provided proof and source of the Jewish State violating Syrian sovereignty.

Military experts from the Pan-Arb media, Rai Al-Yahm, analyzed this act of aggression and concluded that this missile attack could be the last provocation of Tel Aviv against Damascus.
The SAR forces used their anti-aircraft missile systems only for enemy missiles, which they almost all destroyed during the flight. But they did not shoot down the F-16 in Lebanese airspace, as it was dangerous for civilian airliners in the air harbor of Beirut International Airport.
This strike by the Israeli military against Syria from Lebanese territory was first of all condemned by the current Prime Minister of the Republic, Saad Hariri, who now has a good reason for the extraordinary convocation of the UN Security Council on this occasion. Moreover, in the case of a repeated provocation of this kind, missile defense officers of Syria may even strike enemy planes outside their borders.
Experts of “Rai Al-Yame” cite three main reasons that indicate that this rocket attack on the military infrastructure of the CAA will be almost 99% the last act of aggression from the Israeli military machine against the Syrian Republic.
First, sharp criticism of this unreasonable bombing from Russia. Major General Igor Konashenkov, the official representative of the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation, expressed Moscow’s protest against Tel Aviv’s shares, which violate the sovereignty of Syria. In addition, the Major General noted that 14 out of 16 Israeli missiles were shot down by Syrian missile defense. But the fact that civilian planes at the airport of the Lebanese capital could have suffered during a retaliatory strike by Syrian rocket engineers, summed up Konashenkov.
Secondly, earlier the Israeli military leadership confirmed the fact that one of the missiles, allegedly fired from the Syrian land, reached the city of Haifa, where, by a lucky chance, it did not hurt anyone. Thus, it turns out that Israeli missile defense systems are not so impenetrable, and there are clearly holes in the notorious “iron dome” of the country's missile defense.
Third, the almost 100% accuracy the Syrian missile defense calculations: this time they destroyed almost all the targets still on approach, therefore the damage was insignificant, and there were no dead at all. Russian air defense system once again demonstrated its brilliant fighting qualities.
Given all of the above, the conclusion suggests itself: Israeli rocket-bomb strikes lose their former effectiveness and cause less and less damage to the military infrastructure of Syria. In turn, the Tel Aviv hawks themselves are at increasing risk of being destroyed by the Syrian air defense units. In addition, it is very likely that the next time the missile defense system of the SAR will receive an order to destroy enemy fighters in the airspace of neighboring states.

Proof? From a newspaper? You're in the wrong business. If you want proof try going to a court of law (and you'll have to search there too).

The newspaper business is not about proof but the probability of accuracy and about having trustworthy sources. Well, that used to be the case back in the days when two or more independent sources were required for a quality broadsheet to run a story.

These days "sources" can be a Twitter post from anyone anywhere and the media profession has resumed its historical role of whore-ing to the highest bidder.

But in the round we have here a story where the IAF cynically used commercial airliners as cover to hide behind to launch an attack on Syria on the understanding that the Russians/Syrians would not launch the S-300 system for fear of hitting one of the aircraft and causing an international incident. As Laing concludes, it was "clever".

The problem I see is that it was also a reckless gamble. And a counter move will now have to be found to ensure this manoeuvre doesn't go unanswered in the longer term.

All it has done, therefore, is cynically put innocents in danger in exchange for a very short-term and questionable military gain. The reality is that it probably had more to do with Israel frustration at not having a proper response to the S-300 system and thus fabricating a media PR response to continuing articles about the danger to them of the new S-300 system.

But that short term gain might well be enough for Bibi to get through the election in April, and whats the death of a few people when the Jewish State feels like it!

Yes, I accept that the whole thin g might well be to help Netanyahu out of his present parlous state. But a line has been crossed. Short term gain in exchange for long term loss.

Torpedos are generally considered proper anti-ship ordinance & you're obviously distressed that your Israeli "allies" left any American G.I.s to identify America's most treacherous & insidious "ally" & the country to which you are most loyal.

Your dear Israelis began killing Americans using unmarked planes in an attempt to destroy all communication capabilities but since the ill fated Americans were later able to restore communications & identify their attackers as Israeli, the game was over & Israeli propagandists began claiming that a 2 hour attack on a clearly marked American ship was an "accident".

The fact that the Israelis strafed lowered life rafts(1), (2) is commonly known to all but only denied by traitorous American "Israel Firsters" and Hasbara shills.

    http://ifamericaknew.org/us_ints/ul-qa.html

EXCERPT "After the attack was thought to have ended, three life rafts were lowered into the water to rescue the most seriously wounded. The Israeli torpedo boats returned and machine-gunned these life rafts at close range."CONTINUED

    (2) "NEW EVIDENCE PROVES ISRAEL ATTACKED USS LIBERTY WITH ORDERS TO KILL 294 AMERICANS"

    http://www.mintpressnews.com/new-ev...uss-liberty-orders-kill-294-americans/198757/

EXCERPT "Navy Admiral Thomas Moorer, who has served this country as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Chief of Naval Operations, once lead an independent commission to investigate what really happened to the USS Liberty. The commission’s findings were made public in 2003. Here are a few of the shocking conclusions.

    • The attack, by a U.S. ally, was a deliberate attempt to destroy an American ship and kill its entire crew.
    • The attack included the machine-gunning of stretcher-bearers and life rafts .
    • The White House deliberately prevented the U.S. Navy from coming to the defense of the USS Liberty. This was the first time in naval history a rescue mission had been cancelled while an American ship was under attack.
    • Surviving crew members were later threatened with court-martial, imprisonment, or worse if they talked to anyone about what had happened to them; and were “abandoned by their own government.”CONTINUED

Don't get snippy with me and infer I'm "traitorous" you j***. I don't even have any special regard for Jews or Israel. But napalm which several of the Israeli aircraft used in the initial attack on the U.S.S. Liberty is considered a poor weapon for anti ship work.

And the torpedo boats hit the Liberty with a single torpedo. This was only AFTER they were being fired upon by the Liberty's machine guns (understandable at that point of course).

And to this day, no one, especially you have every provided any reasonable motive for the Israelis to deliberately attack the Liberty.

Finally read the book "Dark Eagles". After the Six Day War, Israel provided the U.S. at least 8 captured Migs to use for dissimilar air combat training and evaluation. The book says that the U.S. Navy and USAF later estimated that this saved the lives of HUNDREDS of American pilots in the skies over Vietnam.

    Of course not.

But motive is the difference between something being a common mistake in a war zone (as I believe the attack on the Liberty was) to a deliberate act of war (as some of the idiots here believe).

Remember, accidentally attacking your own forces or forces allied with you are VERY common in warfare. Even modern warfare. There were a whole bunch of friendly fire incidents in the 1991 Gulf War including one where a U.S. A-10 killed something like a dozen British soldiers by blowing up their infantry fighting vehicle. A similar incident occurred when an A-10 destroyed two U.S. Marine light armored vehicles.

A state of belligerence with Israel was declared by the Arab League members, including Lebanon, in the 40s, reaffirmed in 1967, and it's still in effect. All Arab League members, with the exception of Egypt and Jordan, are in a state of war with Israel.
