Huh? How are the HOUSTON ROCKETS under China's thumb? China "suspending cooperation" will do what to the Rockets? Maybe not allowing a meaningless exhibition game? Oh ..... that's gotta really hurt LOL.

The nature of the pressure is not clear

But otherwise wny would an American basketball club pander to a communist dictatorship?

Yao Ming China's greatest basketball talent played for 8 or 9 or more years for the Houston Rockets before returning to China.

Its about money and access to the consumers there. They sell merchandise there and are popular because of Yao Ming, and consider you can buy gear like hats and clothing here in Houston for the Rockets with Chinese lettering. So in short the nature of the pressure is the money they spend, Tilman Fertitta and his family are about making money and business.

Did ming come from china with a lifetime lease agreement?

Meaning the Rockets must pander to the communists in china forever?

If they stop buying rocket products it's their choice. Rocket can't do anything about. I'm more interested to see how rocket respond consider china is big NBA market. Would they apologize and fired the GM or willing to lose one of biggest market and stand on moral high ground. They are into making $$$ afterall, does capitalism had morality

The NBA's Chinese streaming partner cut off one of the most popular basketball franchises in China after the team manager tweeted about Hong Kong

i wont say its bully, its more if i'm your customer, and if you said something bad about me, i can stop shop there. its up to the rocket to decide if they want the market or not. there is a reason business dont tangle up with politic. many US company dont allow political discussion within the company, and dont allow senior manager to share their political opinions outside either, it always end up badly. also most mainlander are against HK protest, so its not a good idea to say political sensitive topic if they want to continue to do business there. but of course $$$$ over morality for NBA, and china is one of the biggest market for NBA.

rocket can said whatever they want, but china can also choose who to do business with. No one force NBA to do business there, its the greed over morality.

The Houston Rockets / NBA has put themselves under the thump of China. Does anyone see the de je v.o.u.s.. with the NBA putting themselves under under the thumb of China? Remember that our American companies put themselves under China's thumb by giving in to turning over intellectual property to China for the right to do business in China. So the NBA is doing what the American businesses already did. They both did it to themselves. So Obama, Clinton, Bush 1-&2 And Reagan got blamed. So now Trump should be blamed for the NBA just as Obama and company where about intellectual property.

The bill is coming due for China; Left, Right and Center are all realizing how much they hate anti-freedom messages.

It is coming back to haunt the Progressives/Communists in the USA as well, people are sick of it.

I see a corporate backlash coming quickly and companies having to decide where they truly want to do business.

Like the NBA, under current standards, the 15-20 NBA games I watch per year are now completely gone. Millions like me are doing the same.

Sure, they can go for the Chinese market, but good luck when colleges and high schools stop feeding kids into the system.

China doesn't create anything, this is going to be found out very soon.

Trump may not have turned his attention to the NBA yet, but unlike the previous president he alone is fighting back against china in other areas

that's why US business don't allow or frowned upon political discussion within its operating environment. Also most US business don't allow its senior manager to openly discuss their political views. it never end well.

We need to wait and see what the end result of the tariff war will be. Instead of a tariff war maybe We should have engaged in a war on tariffs.

my opinion is the protester become too violent to support, whatever their cause are before, it shatter into pieces after all the violence occur there.
