I am not surprised by Johnson's comments. I find it difficult to understand why some people do not believe that racism (on ALL sides) is a problem in the US. I absolutely believe the police would have responded differently if the Capitol protesters were not white.

At what point can we acknowledge that there are good people in the world and there are some no so good people in the world and neither is automatically determined by the color of someone's skin?

    What do you think?

Black folk as a whole are not racist. Historically its been proven that whites as a whole are. Please do not conflate the issue further.

Do you have some information on how this was proven? Any race can be prejudiced against another race or people.

Johnson stated that he didn't feel threatened because he viewed the Capitol protestors as meaning him no harm (despite the fact some were violent and caused harm to others). To go on to say that his reaction/response to the same situation with BLM or Antifa would have been different is making a determination of intent based solely on the race of the people involved.

BLM and Antifa protests are not a race. In fact, most of those protestors seem to be the same color as Johnson. So again, what is the racist part?

It was written into law in the southern states of america. This is how america became known as the only practioners of "RACE based chattel slavery" in history and likely foerever.

Only Johnson knows for sure what he meant by the comments. I believe anyone paying attention will understand what distinction he was making in those statements.

How does that prove "that whites as a whole are (racist)"?

How does that prove that "Black folk as a whole are not racist"?

BLM and Antifa have deep roots in American political life. You have to wonder what those Trumpsters were thinking attacking the Capital building. They had no tanks or anti-aircraft guns. As a matter of fact they didn't have a single gun of any kind and no fires were set as in what's going on in Portland nightly now.

Protesting is part of what America is all about. As long as it’s peaceful it should be respected. If it gets violent, if it leads to looting, destruction, people getting hurt, It should be condemned by all decent people regardless of your politics. Johnson, is way out of line condoning the clearly violent Capitol protest while condemning other violent protests that were in support of BLM. If someone wants to be respected they need to be against all violence, regardless of what side is perpetrating it, or expect to be called a racist like Johnson .

Well only Johnson knows what he was thinking, and apparently you since you started this thread and declared Johnson racist. I read his statement, and to me, his meaning was clear. The levels of violence at BLM and Antifa protests are far higher than what happened January 6th. I realize that if you are on the left, race is really the only issue, forever and ever amen, but in the real world, there are other factors involved, and since you had to cop to mindreading Johnson, you are simply trying to fit your square block of racism into a round hole of protest violence.

I did not claim to speak for Johnson or say that he was a racist. His comments are racist, however.

I'm not on the left or right. I am aware that racism exists. It is not the ONLY problem we face as a nation but it's there and pretending everything is rosy because that's easier than acknowledging and addressing things is dysfunctional.

I disagree with your assertion that racism (on ALL sides) is a problem in the US.

The horror this country imposed on people taken from Africa and treated like property and sub humans from ~1619 until 1964 and beyond to this day.

Nope, not in agreement with your position on this.

Ron Johnson, ya know, I always had a special place in my heart for Wisconsin due to my studies in college and that one of my textbooks was an amazing piece of work that came from UW Madison. And I've known a couple of friends from Wisconsin. Sad to see this State have to be embarrassed by this exceptional example that blue eyes are no proof of intelligence.

No, his comments are not racist. I gave you the opportunity to make that case and you failed. Thanks anyway.

I absolutely agree with you. I included that racism exists on all sides with the hope it would stave off whataboutism for acts of racism against other groups of people.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that systemic racism still exists today and it's ludicrous for some to suggest that minorities are "pulling the race card" for speaking out/up about it.

“SYSTEMIC RACISM” IS WHAT YOU TALK ABOUT WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE ANY ACTUAL RACISM TO TALK ABOUT: Systemic Racism – the Big Lie.

"So, why do we say systemic racism, and not just racism? Why systemic?"

The claim is that "Racial discrimination is the sole cause of racial disparities in this country."

Naturally. At least 25 people died in the BLM/Antifa riots. The only person who died that we are certain was connected to the riot at the capitol is the unarmed woman that the policeman shot.
That's the default position of Super-Anti-Racist Americans of all stripes. We are:
    • One People
    • with One Law
    • applied Without Favor
“It’s good to be white when you’re doing crimes” writes racist bigot fake news “journalist” about Capitol rioter … not realizing the subject of his article was in fact black.

There were 11 pictures of this particular rioter the "journalist" was writing about, and he most assuredly is black.
