Gen. Kelley supported having a wall on the border.

Kelley also said the wall is just one layer of defense. Just like how an Aircraft Carrier Battle Group or Strike Group has three layers of defense.

The last layer of defense with immigration is interior enforcement by ICE and local law enforcement.

A wall makes sense in places like San Diego - and look there's already one there!

    I suppose it could be.

But enacting a national emergency in order to enforce federal law is a bit different than enacting a national emergency to strip a right guaranteed by the constitution.

Judging by the way liberals react to their own shooting and murdering each other in democrat strongholds gun will never be a national emergency unless more white people get shot.

Health and health care is largely impacted by each person's decisions, like diets and exercise. Do you think legalizing drugs is going to make people healthier?
It won't, so the healthcare argument is hypocritical.

Nationally we have illegals and other undesirables who should be here committing murders, drunk driving, raping, human trafficking, robing and committing all sorts of other crimes. They cost us money to educate them, police them, arrest them, give them trials and imprison them. This occurs in every state, i.e. it's national. But if you don't consider it an emergency then you're going against what both Clintons, Obama, Feinstien, Reid, Pelosi and others have said just a few years ago.

It's not a national emergency. The courts will put an end to this quickly I'm sure.

If you'd read the link you'd know, the answer is a majority.

"Another 54 percent overall support building a combination physical and electronic barrier between the U.S. and Mexico; 85 percent of Republicans, 54 percent of independents and 30 percent of Democrats agree."

It is up to the President, not activist judges, to decide that.

That's a coincidence.... Trump used to have a Chief of Staff named Gen. Kelly

But sadly, he was driven slowly and methodically insane...

We don't need a hardened border barrier like a wall. A fence like Trump says Israel has will do the trick.

Sorry, you need to find out what's going on. It could well end up in the Supreme Court.

Oh, likely an Hawaiian Aloha Ackbar Judge of some sort might issue an injunction once someone can achieve standing, but, Trump took 3 actions to obtain the funds he needs to more completely secure our dangerous Southern Border, only one of which relies on his emergency power, and since the funds will be spent sequentially, it could be "Many Moons" as Senator Warren would say, before any emergency funding is used, which will be necessary for anyone challenging his actions to achieve standing. By then, much of the needed work will be completed, troops and infrastructure will be fixtures on our Southern Border, and the nightmare of the mass rape occurring among these women and girls that the Left wants to be able to illegally cross our border will have been largely alleviated.

    Trump's on Solid Legal Ground
    That makes perfect sense
Yes, we have been steadily moving toward a more constitutionally restrained Judiciary.

Great Job Mr. President! We have to shut those illegal rape, drug and human trafficking routes down that Democrats are so committed to!

    You sound a bit butthurt.

Trump will win the wall fight.

    Inherent Presidential Power:

Long before the National Emergencies Act of 1976.
But, then Congress added to the President's inherent power, a further grant of Legislative authority via the sweeping authority under the National Emergencies Act of 1976, and along with that their long habit of granting billions in slush funds f or the President to spend as he sees fit.
We will never forget when Obama gave a State of the Union announcing that he planned to circumvent Congress after it failed to pass immigration reform and the Democrats in Congress loudly applauded.
    That's not going to fly.

Let 'em figure it out. They're still going to be easier for law enforcement to detect.....then we arrest and deter them. How long will it take for the left to figure that out? I guess never.:disbelief:

There are places where a wall could cut illegal immigration by 90% (like it did in Yuma, AZ), and there are places where a wall would be worthless.

It’s idiotic to say all 2,000 miles should have a wall. It’s equally idiotic to say none of the 2,000 miles should have a wall.

I keep warning conservatives that every ounce of power they hand over to the Executive branch stays with office one th eRepublican leaves and the Democrat moves in. I warned the Bush people that the Executive power the handed to Bush after 9/11 stays with the office .... sure enough, a few years later, they were bitch'n and moaning about Obama's use of the same powers.

The power trump is trying to get right now opens the door for claiming global warming is a National Emergency ... and you guys will be crapping your pants over that one.

The door's open now. Congress is in the habit of sloshing so much money to be used at the discretion of the President, that Obama was able to go to war against Libya and sack the government without congressional approval or appropriation. Trump's securing of the border is far more modest than that and the mass rape of these migrant women and girls simply has to be stopped.

As for the Emergency Powers act, that was passed in the 70's, even though the President inherently already possessed the power to declare emergencies, they decided he needed even more power.

This is a modest use of the power, not the vast expansion you are claiming. Yes, in a perfect world, I would love to see Congress tightly controlling money and authority, but they haven't done that since FDR.

So, yes, I see your claim as silly hyperbole, not unlike Nancy Pelosi claiming a future President would use emergency power to nullify the 2nd amendment, as if Congress had the power to grant the president, powers reserved to the Super-Majority of the State legislatures, but such is the state of Constitutional Ignorance in the head of Pelosi and her followers.

So we put up a wall to divert people to a mine field? If that's your thinking, just mine the whole border......brilliant.

Gen. Kelly fulfilled his tour of duty as White House Chief of Staff.
Most White House Chief of Staffs usually only serve in the position for two years.

Where Gen. Kelley comes in, he use to be the Commander of Southern Command during the Obama administration and it was back then when Gen. Kelley called for a layer defense for protecting America's sovereignty including a wall.

It was around the time when Susan Rice and Valerie Jarrett instructed President Obama to fire Ge. Mattis.

Gen. Kelley knew he was nexted to be purged by the Obama White House so Gen. Kelley pulled a fast one on the Obama White House and retired from the Marine Corps before Obama could fire him.

So basically you are saying walls work but the opposition is against walls, because they work?
