Hi! 'Geriatric Joe' Biden and 'Peter the Great' Putin are going to have their big 'phone call' today about Ukraine.

I'll cut through all the usual preamble and just ask you: when (not 'if') Russia will send military forces to facilitate an annexation of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions inside present-day Ukraine?

Boiled down to the essentials, my take is that Biden tells Putin, "If you go into Ukraine, we're going to put harsh sanctions on Russian banks".

Putin replies, "If Kiev honors the 2014 'special status law' granting greater autonomy to Luhansk and Donetsk, and if the U. S. stops trying to bring Ukraine into NATO as a full 'member' nation, we will withdraw forces from the Ukraine border".

Biden agrees, Putin withdraws Russian military forces from the border area, and everything appears to be relatively quiet for a month or two. Then, something happens (I'm not at all sure exactly what), and the Russians in Luhansk and Donetsk loudly protest that Kiev has resumed processes of brutal repression against them... whereupon Putin sends in his military. All this is easily predicted, as though it were written into a script....

NOW -- after Russia annexes Luhansk and Donetsk, does the U. S. (and the EU) confer full NATO 'member' status on the Kiev-controlled provinces of western Ukraine...? And if that happens, does Putin move into the "Baltic" states? Simultaneously, does China absorb Taiwan...?

I value your opinion, and wanted to know what you think before the first act of this forthcoming 'three-act play' actually begins!
