Well....no one is trying to "take over" Ukraine...(other than Russia at the moment), if Ukraine wants to join Nato ,it's their prerogative, Nato never pressured anyone.

Otoh.....Kremlin baby nugget is scared $hitless if Ukraine does join Nato/EU....then Putler is finished...he may well know this..

If Ukraine joins NATO, just what is the whole nation of Ukraine? Ukraine needs to be defined.

I would suspect it would be defined by the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances signed by Russia in 1994 assuring the territorial integrity of Ukraine that included Crimea.

See, we need a definition that is accepted by all. Arguments over what is the correct map is how many wars start. Or am I wrong?

 

I think this is a lot more explosive than some posters here understand. The history of Russia shows the country takes threats on their borders very, very seriously and are willing to use military force. Unless we’re prepared to take on massive combat in the region we’d better find a peaceful resolution.
