This is scary. I hope this is just bluster, but there are a number of news reports. Here are two.

Russia Warns Israel About Airstrikes On Syria - News

    https://uk.news.yahoo.com/iran-threatens-apos-eliminate-israel-083600395.html

    Excerpt:

Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh spoke out as a monitoring group said 11 people had been killed in the Israeli sorties, which hit munition storage facilities within Damascus International Airport, an Iranian intelligence site and a military training camp.

The Russian military said four Syrian troops were among those killed. There were no further details on the casualties or their nationalities.

Israel said it had launched the strikes in response to a surface-to-surface rocket Iran’s Quds Force fired from Syria at a ski resort in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Sunday, which Israeli air defences intercepted.

The unusual announcement appears to mark an end to Israel’s years-long policy of silence regarding activities in neighbouring Syria.

In response, Iranian Brigadier Nasirzadeh released a fiery statement to the Young Journalist Club, a website supervised by state television, sparking fears of a further flare-up between the two archenemies.

“The young people in the air force are fully ready and impatient to confront the Zionist regime and eliminate it from the Earth,” he said.

Russia Warns Israel Against New Airstrikes in Syria

Russia has warns Israel against carrying out airstrikes near the Damascus International Airport in the Syrian capital. Moscow said it would not tolerate further airstrikes in the area as it is seeking to renovate the airport, the London-based al-Quds al-Arabinewspaper reported on Friday, citing Russian sources.

    https://en.news-front.info/2019/01/19/russia-warns-israel-against-new-airstrikes-in-syria/

Israel frequently strikes the Syrian territory, attacking military targets belonging to Syria and its allies, which have been assisting Damascus’ war on foreign-backed terrorist groups. Observers view the attacks as a means of propping up the Takfiri terror groups that have suffered crushing defeat recently.

Last September, a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft with 15 servicemen on board was downed by Syria’s S-200 missile launchers, which were at the time responding to a wave of Israeli strikes on state institutions in the western Syrian Latakia Province. Moscow held Israel responsible, saying the regime’s pilots had intentionally used the Russian plane as cover to conduct air raids, effectively putting it in the crosshairs of the Syrian air defenses.

I guess the Syrian air defense system is not as effective as they might have hoped.

To many trolls this wouldn't make any sense, why would the Zionists that control the world anyway poke Russia and Iran for nothing at all, isn't Russia more powerful than Israel or the Zionists ? a troll paradox indeed.....

To me it makes all the sense, since we don't control the world we do need to flash our red lines from time and this issue is worth an all out war right now, if such a war will start there will be no resent with the ppl, I only pity the Syrians that are dragged to this by much more powerful entities they cannot resist, much like Gaza and Hamas I suppose.

I think its also a question of distance, if Syria would barrage Israel the same - Israel would probably also miss a few, they don't because they know better...., I'm sure they are more terrified from the decision to shot Israel airport than the Israelis themselves, but they have to...

Cut it out. This world is not going to last for your grand children if you keep on engaging in wars. That might be your choice but you will be taking the rest of us with you.

Iran should shut up and stop the threats because Netanyahu's crazy and he could end up throwing us all into war. Isn't there a court case against him for corruption? Maybe they'll get rid of him - although I doubt the policies in Israel will change.

The only thing that can stop Israel's attacks is its fear of killing Russians. Putin doesn't take it lightly and it's only a matter of time before he blows. He hasn't forgotten, nor will he the deaths of the 15 experts in the Russian plane Israel used as a shield. When a delegation had visited him recently from Tel Aviv, he was probably given proof of Iran's weapon storage and decided to hold back the S-300 defenses. Of course it's only a presumption on my part, otherwise why wouldn't they be using them?.

Moscow now will have Russians working at the airport as well as at the border and deconfliction zones. Anyway the situation in Syria is getting serious again. There was an attack in Idlib near a Russian base by the Israeli and Turkish supported terrorist group; Al Nusra/Al Queda. This is probably what Trump was referring to when he said that the American troops will leave, but we'll still be working in Syria - no doubt to hinder peace, and overthrow Assad.

here is RT 14 hours ago

    https://www.rt.com/news/449463-syria-threatens-israel-airport/

That sounds reasonable. Israel has been bombing and killing for years. No one is going to put up with this for ever.

1 hour ago, Russia tells Israel to stop bombing Syria
    https://www.rt.com/news/449463-syria-threatens-israel-airport/

It seems the Syrian Missile defenses are not doing too bad as there are several reports of Syria downing 30 of Israel's missiles two days ago.

The Golan Heights is not Israel's. But considering Israel's security concern, they should come to some kind of agreement - like for instance giving Damascus the oil it's stealing.

Of course "Greater Israel" Zionists want to provoke a war with Syria.

They've already got Americans to die for them:

EXCERPT "In addition, Israel has been laying the groundwork for an invasion of Syria since last year and is largely responsible for the current conflict in Syria that has raged on for seven years. Israel’s current push to invade Syria is also based on flimsy evidence suggesting that Iran is establishing bases in Syria to target Israel."CONTINUED

EXCERPT "During the recent bilateral military exercises, Air Force Lt. Gen. Richard Clark enthused that American soldiers are “prepared to die for the Jewish state” and also added that they would “probably” be under the command of Israeli Air Force Gen. Zvika Haimovitch, who would decide on the involvement of U.S. personnel. Haimovitch commented, “I am sure . . . we will find U.S. troops on the ground . . . to defend the state of Israel.”

I somehow doubt if Clark would be so sanguine if his own son were told to prepare to die for the Jewish state."CONTINUED

I'm going to be the devil's advocate here. The problem other than Netanyahu's insanity is Iran. Assad can't tell Iran to leave all of Syria the way Netanyahu demands after the sacrifices they made to free the country from terrorists. Russia to pacify Netanyahu's fears had the Iranians move a certain distance from the Golan and Israel's border. Russia even installed 15 guard posts manned with Chechnyans along the border, so as to protect them from attacks. Yet the Iranians keep making threats and storing weapons in Syria. Even Russia told them to shut up.

The best thing would be for Israel to come to an agreement with Damascus over the Golan Heights, like for instance leasing it for 100 years and splitting the oil profits. That way Iran can't use it as an excuse to mass arms in Syria.

So tell me, who is getting the oil in the Golan Heights? I'm sure it's not Damascus. Wouldn't that be stealing, unless you have a different concept of what the word means.

It was President Obama who allowed Russia back into the Middle East.

But Russia packed its bags after Reagan won the Cold War and pretty much stayed out of Iraq and Syria. Not Iran so much.

I mean they didn't abandon their advance naval base in Tartus, Syria, they just allowed it to deteriorate where it looked like it was a facility run by Democrats like L.A.'s barrios and hoods.

Be Careful: President Obama drew a red line in the sand and then blinked and Russia is Back to Stay in the Middle East

Russia is back. President Vladimir Putin wants the world to acknowledge that Russia remains a global power. He is making his stand in Syria.

The Soviet Union acquired the Tardus Naval Port in Syria in 1971 without any real purpose for it. With their ships welcomed in Algeria, Cuba or Vietnam, Tardus was too insignificant to be developed. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia lacked the funds to spend on the base and no reason to invest in it.

The Russian return to the Middle East brought them first to where the Soviet Union had its closest ties. Libya had been a major buyer of arms and many of the military officers had studied in the Soviet Union. Russia was no longer a global power, but it could be used by the Libyans as a counter force to block domination by the United States and Europeans.

When Gaddafi fell, Tardus became Russia’s only presence in the region. That and the discovery of vast gas deposits just offshore have transformed the once insignificant port into a strategic necessity.

Earlier at the United Nations, Russia had failed to realize that Security Council Resolution 1973 that was to implement a new policy of “responsibility to protect” cloaked a hidden agenda. It was to be turned from a no-fly zone into a free-fire zone for NATO. That strategic blunder of not vetoing the resolution led to the destruction of Gaddafi’s regime and cost Russia construction contracts and its investments in Libyan gas and oil to the tune of 10 billion dollars.

That was one more in a series of humiliating defeats; and something that Putin will not allow to happen again while he is president. Since his time as an officer in the KGB, he has seen the Soviet Empire lose half of its population, a quarter of its land mass, and most of its global influence. He has described the collapse of the Soviet Union as a “geopolitical catastrophe.”

In spite of all of the pressure from Washington and elsewhere to have him persuade Bashar Al-Assad to relinquish power, Putin is staying loyal to the isolated regime. He is calculating that Russia can afford to lose among the Arabs what little prestige that it has remaining and gain a major political and economic advantage in Southern Europe and in the Eastern Mediterranean... continue -> https://raymondpronk.wordpress.com/2013/09/10/russias-main-concern-in-syria-tartus-naval-base/
